Get the fecker in. We'll climb to 12th guaranteed.
If I’m honest we will only really be getting one over Palace when we get some trophies in the cabinet. He sounds like a bad egg... but on the other hand, for the sake of pulling another one over Palace, we should sign him up
Find that a bit amusing. He`s a big time charlie and obviously a trouble maker, even if we were to go in for him, I honestly cannot see him wanting to come to us, he`ll want someone bigger and preferably someone playing in europe, stay away from him
Reported that his representatives are working hard to find him a new club, and can reveal that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are among those approached about a potential move.Find that a bit amusing.
If there's doubt about what he actually signed then why shouldn't he get that clarified? It's not exactly like he's gone back to France to train with his old club and refused to play for them... He's actually doing it properly by taking it through the channels he needs to.
He played for them at the weekend so not sure he's downed tools because of it either.
What will be interesting to see is if they do find him to be ineligible, and he should be a free agent and all along he's been playing for them, whether that will result in other outcomes (e.g. fines, docked points etc).
BBC are saying:I haver read a few articles on this and nobody seems to be able to point out what Mateta's case is here? It just says he disputes the extension being enacted by Palace, but club-only extensions are pretty common in football contracts so what's the deal? I don't know if he is questioning something specific in this case or just the whole validity of extension options in clubs favour in general. If he wins on the latter (unlikely) it would be chaos akin to the Bosman ruling.
As far as I can remember, the only rules around extensions is they can't be longer than the original contract.
So whilst that doesn't say anywhere near what the exact legal issue is, it does look like he signed a deal which included an option of a 12 month extension which the club took up, meaning now he is under contract when without the extension it shouldn't be.The striker signed a four-and-half year contract when joining permanently in January 2022, in a deal that also included the option of a 12-month extension.
Palace activated that option in 2024, meaning Mateta's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
But the 29-year-old is claiming the final year of his contract - the optional extra year - should be void and it is understood Mateta's case was heard by an independent tribunal under the Premier League's rules.
The devil will be in the detail. They must feel he's got a case to take it this far. As with numerous agreements and rules in the past, people think they're watertight until they find out they aren't.BBC are saying:

I would guess that it is probably one of two things:
- that the actual existence of the extension in the deal is being questioned
- that the terms of the extension are under dispute and that maybe the club felt they were eligible to trigger it and the player doesn't
I'm sure we will find out what happens with it...
Who promptly responded with "f*** that". MaybeReported that his representatives are working hard to find him a new club, and can reveal that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are among those approached about a potential move.
Only if Delap has a huge upturn in form.Better player than Delap, but worse investment?
More chance of Jean Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise. Is this deal still on given Delap has now joined?
