I agree, I'm not the best scout going but he seems a bit "Taiwo" to me. I am fully prepared to stand corrected though
I also think I would prefer Wissa (but I think I prefer that style of striker anyway)

People can overcomplicate it. There were a million reasons to not sign Wood, but we did and he’s been brilliant for us. I don’t think JPM will be much different, no brainer for me. He still has plenty of years left in the tank, like Wood, he doesn’t rely on pace.

He's a beast, £25m if true, is a snip. If he stays fit and and MGW pulling the strings, there is no way we will be anywhere near relegation next year.

At £25m, he might get a bite from a mid-tier ECL team with decent wages but, that ship's likely sailed. Failing that, he could stick and play in the EL next season or, come to us for an extra £30-40Kpw guaranteed over 4 years.

I agree, hes 29 in 3 weeks. If we are looking at Woods successor, I d rather one a few years younger, to take the time to bed in as Wood winds down

I honestly don't see all that much difference in him and Awoniyi if I am being honest, they are very similar profiles IMO. Yes the big IF with Awoniyi is that he can't stay fit, but Mateta has a knee issue which scuppered his move to AC Milan, swings and roundabouts.
For every Chris Wood I can point to a Yoan Wissa who went in the complete opposite direction.
IF he is available for as low as £25m, in a league which is crying out for goal scorers, why does it appear like only we are being linked? I wouldn't be mad if we pulled this off, and I think he would score goals relative to the minutes he gets, but I am just a little bit 'meh' by it.

Why was Chris Wood available for as low as £15m?
And of course, for every Wood there is a Wissa (who I would also take), but if you go into transfers with that mentality then you may as well never sign anyone.
