January ‘26 Transfer Window!!!!

Any Time Now

Apparently as a fall back option we're sniffing around midfielder Kodai Sano who's close to joining Ajax from NEC Nijmegen. NEC signed him for €400k a couple of years ago and have an asking price of ~€20m for him
Seems like NEC might be more open to letting him go in the summer, I imagine we'll be going back in for him

For the people that are saying this was not a good window for us, well it wasn't great for anyone. There really was not a whole lot of movement in general in the Prem.

I think the success of the window will depend on how quickly Lucca settles.

I’m not sure we will really miss Luiz, and another CM would have reduced minutes for Yatesy and Dom, who are both players you want on the pitch in a relegation scrap.

The biggest concern with the squad now is picking up injuries in the run in, especially as we are still fighting on two fronts.

The EL squad changes will be interesting. We currently have 20 players on the A list (Kalimuemdo and Luiz have been removed already) So we can add two to replace them and swap up to three more.

I would add:
Netz
Hutch
Lucca
Jair

And remove:
Boly
Wood

If Sels injury is ‘long-term’ (>30 days) we can do a temporary swap for Ortega.
No we can’t. We can only add a maximum of 3

Nottingham's dirty secret
I agree that the success of the window will be determined by how Lucca & Netz fare. And Ortega if Sels is out for a prolonged period.

I found it strange the focus was on a midfielder rather than another striker as that's the area I still think we're more likely to come a cropper in.

I think Lucca is a low risk gamble on the face of it. He also gives us the option to throw balls into the box later on if we need a goal. I'm still of the opinion that we needed him & another. And so were the club according to Percy & co. So I'm concerned in case Jesus gets injured as we'll be in big trouble - unless he hits the ground running.....or heading.

Netz seems a great bit of business- for a ridiculously low price. Even if he's not a success we'll get the same or more than we bought him for selling him back to Germany. If he's as good as some suggest we could have grabbed the bargain of the window. The issue here is if he struggles & Neco or Aina get injured for a period of time.

So another striker would have been great but I'm not as bothered about missing out on a midfielder once the Frattesi deal didn't materialise.

Ortega is no good, he’s another Turner/Vlach/Victor…..City played him out of desperation and has signed 3 keepers since, that tells me all i need to know.

Lucca - hard to get excited about, he has the goalscoring record of a centre back that goes up for corners.

I hate being so negative, but I genuinely think we’re weaker than we were a fortnight ago having lost Zinchenko and Luiz.
Ortega was signed as a short term replacement for John Victor, who you'd imagine will be f**ked off in the summer, not a replacement for Sels. He's only here until May so it's a pretty low risk addition. Goalkeeper is sometimes a bit of a different one to judge because sometimes you're only as good as your defence but City have over the past few seasons put him in when they needed him, if he was shit then they'd have got rid. The reason they got rid this year essentially is because they signed Trafford then Donnarumma.

As for Lucca, he may have only 1 goal in 16 for Napoli but it helps when you're not playing 15 minutes a game. Ask yourself, in a Sean Dyche team, pumping cross after across into the box or going long, would there be more use for a 6ft 7in giant or Kalimuendo who was 5'9? He scored 13 goals last season in 33 in Serie A.

As for Netz, I don't really know anything about him but as with Savona, he's cover at the full back position. If he can defend, he's an upgrade on Zinchenko.

We didn't replace Luiz but honestly, I'd rather have grafters in midfield than show ponies.

Wilson didn't join them until October so not sure they can pin either on him.....

I don’t think they are trying to…nor was I. It is just very funny that they are already not happy with Wilson and they would sell both those players if they could. Mind you some of them would sell most of their team. They are convinced no signings as they will get rid of Howe in summer and do not want to invest in him. Heard something similar on here🫣

They also want rid of Tonali, someone I'd have hear in a heartbeat. I remember when he played against us in the cup last session after coming back from his sabbatical and he made us look like a 5 year old trying to get the ball off his dad. Quality footballer

The fans or the club want rid of him? I guess he's dropped off a bit this year but last year at least he was an absolute monster. Surprising.

According to what I've read on the internet, Tonali's agents were touting him around without having the courtesy to mention it to Newcastle.
