January ‘26 Transfer Window!!!!

At least we didn’t spend £50m on Strand Larsen or £40m on Mateta who it turns out is injured.

Though the cynic in me thinks the deal fell through, he’d burnt his bridges so the put out the injured story to save face.
Not sure it ever had legs to be honest

Felt like paper talk more than anything

I'd much prefer to go for quality over quantity, so this seems a reasonably good window. It is a pity we didn't get a CM in but we obviously tried for a number of options that didn't work out. The big issue of course is going to be whether Lucca can make an immediate impact. If he scores enough for us to make his move permanent, we will have done very good business.

At the end of the day, no Luiz replacement means we'll see more Yatesy, which is no bad thing. The guy doesn't know what quit means.

I take some additional pride in the fact that Palace could've sold him to us and got £35M but they played themselves. Chuffed for Marinakis that he can once again laugh at them and flip them the bird.
Especially when he needs a knee operation that will end his season....

Although a relative boring end to the window. Overall happy with how it went.
Cleared out some overplayed/injury prone players.
Brought in a solid keeper, left footed left back and tall striker.
Would have liked to bring in another cm but glad they didn’t overpay on anyone. And if there is any truth in the sums of money we were offering to teams this month hopefully means that come the summer we will be in a strong position psr wise to strengthen again.

That is a good point as well, could of had £35m in the bank and player off the books who has made it clear wants to leave and will help fund other transfers, instead have spent about £80m yesterday including £50m on Strand Larson which seems about £20m too much to me? With no outgoings.

I am satisfied with what we have done, haven't gone mad and paid over the odds for players shifted out some big earners/Injury prone players got in an Experienced Keeper, a young 22YO German LB who has played over 100 games in the BL and is knocking on the National Teams door for just £2m as only had 6 months left on his contract, and Lucca who does have an okay ish record in Seria A but we will see (49 goals in 177 games) so just under 1 in 3 so if he comes in and gets 4/5 goals in our last 14 games i'd say that's not a bad signing for £1m.

Could have done with another CM but looks like we were sensible and despite offering Celtic £25m for a player we didn't over-reach and we have Sangare, Anderson, Yates, Domingez, MGW, McAatee as Midfielders.

So all in all not bad really and nobody Bar Palace who seemed to have played themselves with the Mateta deal spent any money, apparently he wanted to go in the Summer and they wouldn't let him, then messed about in Jan and now stuck with a player that wants to leave, now needs a knee op and will only have 12 months left on his contract in the Summer now so will not get much for him i'd assume £20-25m. Good work all round Palace. Will be Marinakis fault.

Find myself always saying the obvious but you can't force a good deal to happen and once you try too hard it becomes a bad deal.

Relatively quiet window in the division overall. It's a market so there are interdependencies/chains. Sometimes things don't click.

I'm fine with it. We did what we needed most. I'm positive about staying up and really looking forward to Leeds.

I think the success of the window will depend on how quickly Lucca settles.

I’m not sure we will really miss Luiz, and another CM would have reduced minutes for Yatesy and Dom, who are both players you want on the pitch in a relegation scrap.

The biggest concern with the squad now is picking up injuries in the run in, especially as we are still fighting on two fronts.

The EL squad changes will be interesting. We currently have 20 players on the A list (Kalimuemdo and Luiz have been removed already) So we can add two to replace them and swap up to three more.

I would add:
Netz
Hutch
Lucca
Jair

And remove:
Boly
Wood

If Sels injury is ‘long-term’ (>30 days) we can do a temporary swap for Ortega.

I do think we had around £20m to spend on a Midfielder. Yes we didn't get one but hopefully we can get too the end of the season. stay up and reset because it is very much needed.

Norway’s biggest newspaper, VG, reports that we had a bid for Wolves and Norway left‑back David Wolfe rejected yesterday, and that we subsequently moved on to Netz after that.

Window has been OK.

Zinchenko was dogshit so Netz can't be any worse, surely?
Ortega is an upgrade on Victor.
Luiz is a bit of a loss but just means Yates will have more game time which isn't terrible.
Lucca has to be better than an unavailable Wood.

Pragmatic. We've had enough to keep us up already and we've just fine tuned a bit.

I think it was sensible. Whether that was down to a) financial constraints, or b) not wanting to waste too much of the budget on a manager in the final 5 months of his tenure, I don't really know. Perhaps a bit of both. We have a few unknowns still but I'm confident we have what it takes to survive this tough season.

Fabrizio Romano reckons Forest and AS Roma made ‘official proposals’ to Wolverhampton Wanderers for David Moller Wolfe, with the Reds putting together a deal with £14m, which was rejected by the Black Country outfit.

Forest then went on to sign Netz.

Wolves had already rejected out of hand Roma’s £6.9m bid the previous week, with the left back only arriving from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.

Meanwhile ESPN NL has claimed that ‘in the final hours’ Forest bid €20m, around £17.2m, for NEC Nijmegen’s Kodai Sano, they add Ajax were keen but have since withdrawn their interest
