James Reid

Hi everyone, I'm a Rushden fan, just wanted to see what your opinions are of James Reid, who signed for us on loan today. I know he's a left winger, how good do you think he is/can be? Hopefully he can be as impressive as Dale Roberts (legend) ;D

Also what do you know about Tom Sharpe, we have him on trial after you released him?

Thanks in advance, good luck for the new season :)

James Reid is a young left sided player, can play left wing or left back. England under-17 international so comes with a decent pedigree, played in pre-season last season under Calderwood so is clearly quite highly thought of in some circles. I think him going out on loan is agood move as it will allow him exposure to the week in, week out physicality of non-league football.

Tom Sharpe is a young centre back, never played in the first team, quite lanky and decent in the air but not the quickest and was well down the pecking order last season despite our defensive frailties at times. Should do a job for you though.

James Reid is a very good player and will be a 'star' at your level.

No idea about Tom Sharpe though sorry

Reid has a lot of ability. He's not particularly quick but he's very tricky, got great vision and he has a good left peg. He likes to roam around quite a bit as well, in fact he played a few reserve games last season just behind the strikers.

He's always stood out as being a bit too good at reserve level whenever I've seen him. The conference will be a test for him physically, though. Hope he does well as he's certainly one of the better players from the next crop.

Sharpe is a very lanky centre back, good in the air as you'd expect, looks a bit clumsy. Never really looked like making it here.

Reid has an immense free kick watched one of his better ones and tbh it's one of the best free kicks ive ever seen.

Yeah he's great at free-kicks. I saw himplaying for our academy once and it went straight in. He has a wicked left foot and decent right foot too, and bags of pace. I think it will do him a world of good being able to play first team football most weeks and he might even break into our squad come the end of the season or next year at least.

He's got a cracking left foot and is good at taking set-peices, has a bit of acceleration but isn't rapid. Very creative and intellignent and as previously stated it seemed that he wasn't quite good enough to step up to Championship level but is too good for reserve level, I expected him to sign at a League One/Two side so he should be useful in the BSP!

Sharper never looked like making it into the First Team although he was kept on a year to see how he developed, so he should be a decent player at that level.

seeing as bennetts out till crimbo, and heath and reid have both gone on loan.

It would seem that Lynch may well be joining, although if we are going to sign a new left back I'd prefer that he was an natural right back. Bennett isn't even a LB by trade, before joining he was a regular Walsall Centre Half.
