I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll post it here:

Heard a far fetched rumour going around (well between a few of my mates, not all forest fans) that Newcastle are preparing a £2million bid for Perch in January.

Might not be that far fetched, Calderwood seemed to really value Perch.

From what I've read in the papers etc, Newcastle will not be buying anyone if Ashley is still the owner, but they will be selling some. If Barry Moat finds the £80m that Ashley is after in time for Jan, Colin Calderwood will be looking for a new job.

Perch was linked with Newcastle in one of the Sunday rags, think it was the People.

It said he'd cost around £2.5m...

I can't see that valuation as accurate.

..... but if we were offered that much what would you do? We're talking about Newcastle who I'm sure spent over £10m on a player they'd only watched on video and as part of a deal with an agent - nothings beyond them.

He's an impossible player to value imo.

He can play anywhere, he could probably do a job at any level from league two to Prem but he'll never be a player you could imagine taking charge of a game. He's been here how long, and I'm yet to here a single song for him from the terraces.

A conundrum of a player, extremely useful given his versatility yet I'd struggle to value him at £2m to be honest.

Whilst that is true, surely you can value his contribution to the squad? And just because we haven't heard a song for him, or that he doesn't 'take charge' of a game, there's no doubt he is a good, solid player who can play in a number of positions - and play well.

He's useful to the squad - I'd be sad to see him go.

I'd be sad to see him go but if it raised funds for Billy to buy another McKenna and an Anderson, I wouldn't miss him that much.

Did you see BD ranting away behind the bench at Cardiff and wagging a finger at Perch, wonder what that was all about?

We wondering about it too. But what struck me about was that BD misses nothing, he was deep in conversation with Fairclough, Ned & Darby and he went running behind the dugout to JP - its clear that whatever kind of trangression, it was enough for BD to leave the chat he was having to rebuke, well it seemed like a rebuke.

At first I thought he was aiming that more towards McCleary and not Perch. Looks a strange one, maybe he was having a dig at Perch because he can play everywhere except up front!!

I don't think it was Perch he was pointing at actually. Perchy seemed to be paying him no attention other than a little glance and I think Billy would have really laid into him if he thought he was being ignored.

It was more likely to be whoever was to Perch's right.

McCleary and McGugan wasn't it?
