Just got back from watching The Reds against the sheep shaggers. Pretty concerned about Perch's injury after he got stretchered off.

Anybody know what the problem is and how bad it is?

Btw wasn't the atmosphere great?

I think James Perch is probably my favourite player at Forest, a real unsung hero and I think it showed how important he is after he went off. Hurry back Perch your the heart and soul of our midfield.

Our midfield was appalling defensively after he went off.

At least its only concussion then. It looked pretty bad from where I sat.

Only concussion? That can end careers.

Which I guess also shows just how much hidden work he does. Also he spent most of the first half directing many of the defenders, something Smith should be doing but wasn't!

He was also the one player who kept Commons out of the game. After Perch was stretchered off he was handed practically a free license to roam. Who is likely to be made interim captain? Let's hope for all our sakes it's not Wilson!

Perch Doubts
Thu 05 Feb 2009
Nottingham Forest skipper James Perch is a major doubt for Saturday's home Championship date with Queens Park Rangers.

The midfielder was taken to hospital after an accidental clash of heads with Rob Hulse in last night's FA Cup defeat at the hands of Derby.

He was released after undergoing tests for concussion which if confirmed will rule him of contention for the visit of Rangers.

Concussion does not end careers.

Yes they do!

Not that common in football perhaps, as concussions in general aren´t that common in this heavenly sport.
In some other sports that are more contact oriented, concussions are the reason for worringly many end of careers. For ice hockey players for example, concussions can be considered somewhat normal reason for ending career nowadays, unfortunately.
Just type "concussion ends career" in Google and take a look.

It doesn´t matter in which sport you get the concussion though, as concussion is always a concussion.

I myself know personally handful of athelets that were forced to end their careers because of concussion.
One of them a footballer.

Usually it takes more than just one or two concussions, but one bad enough might be enough aswell.

Spoke to him this afternoon. He reckons he'll be Ok for Sat but just needs the doc to sign him as fit to play.

Great news.

Seems strange to say that Perchy is probably the most important player for us on Saturday.

It's a good strange, though.

Haha yes i agree. It does seem strange, but he has really come into his own this season, and since being given the captaincy has seemed like the strong leader, leading by example that we need.
