Heard it all before with him though. If reports are to be believed he's better than Messi and Pele combined in training yet still isn't trusted by anyone to start a Premier League game.

I'll believe McAtee is as talented as the Forest PR machine says he is once I actually see it where it matters. Until then he's just an extremely expensive mate to have around for some of the coffee club lads.

Bit harsh..😂…but probably fair on balance.

At least the signs are encouraging, hopefully he is able to show improvement where it really matters, on the pitch,at the start of the season.

Indeed, so presumably if he's championing McAtee so much then I'd be fully expecting him to pick him consistently. Or at least bring him off the bench as his predecessors weren't even doing that most of the time (despite all telling us how brilliant he is at 5 a side).

We'll see.
 
I like him, has lots of skills and vision. however, it may be a confidence thing, maybe a loan to champ where he is the main man would work better than a bit part player here ? he was brought in to be long term replacement for MGW and that may happen , but not this season. wham maybe ?
 
depends who els3e we bring in. Reijnders ? bergvall ? would McT take a place from either of them ? MF will mainly be Slager and Sangare with Yates and Dom on hand. the lad needs games

Yates and Dom will be challenging for the Sangare position. McAtee or Schlager will take the other role to be more progressive, playmakers. With 3 at the back we don't need both the deeper midfielders to be destroyers.

Maybe they saw an opponent push him over once or twice? It does seem like “not falling over despite being fouled” is one of the main criteria that players get judged on around here now. See also Dan Ndoye.

Not sure about Schlager being a playmaker, he's more of a defensive ball winner that covers ground and battles. I think he'll be more like a Freuler (with more aggression) than a progressive player like McAtee

To get the best out of him we'll need to compliment him with a Reijnders/Camara/Sangare type
 
How did he do yesterday? Didn’t watch the game and other than that lovely ball for Jesus didn’t see much on the highlights

Yeah I think he may have found a position thats good for his development. The thing is who gets dropped for him to play.

I thought he did alright really and even won the ball back a few times. He certainly didnt look out of place but it's obviously a 2nd string at best Barcelona side played at a nice, comfortable friendly pace.

I'd be worried if he was in the side in CM for the Leeds game.
