Garner isn't lightweight he is just a bit gangly but that's down to his age.
Garner puts it about and is taller than he looks.

Half of them are from Africa and have never watched a live game with him playing and the other half still expect them to beat everyone 10-0 with a world 11.Mixed reviews from Man U fans, some think he showed a bit as a defensive midfielder and covered the ground well.
It'll be interesting to see if ETH blames the subs for letting Villa equalise late.
I think Garner will stay at Man U unless they sign a couple of mids in the next week.
It’s the poor guys first minutes for them, what do they expect?.Reading comments from Man U fans, they're absolutely slating him in what is a rare outing in preseason, not sure what role he was asked to play but it didn't seem like where he did for us. If they don't value him/rate him I think we could get a bargain.

I was exaggerating the number but just offer them what they want with a decent sell on for them or even a buyback.£30m seems excessive, could probably get it done for half that if they are going to sell him.
But I do agree, it's a no brainer. I think Garner is really very happy here as well.
I don't agree we should be "breaking the bank" for a young lad whose never played in the prem, and that thus far failed to make any impact as his parent club. Truth is that if he doesn't get to play football there he will want out and if his desire is to return to Forest I would think a deal can and will be worked out but 30M is not realistic-I think 10M is a fair price for him.Watching the Berlin game. I can definitely see a Yates and Garner shaped hole in our squad. The fact that Garner can cover the No 10 role (in my opinion better than Brennan does) and we only have Lingard as a 10 then he would be worth breaking the bank for. Offer United £30million and get it done.
Would be a great signing, Garner and O'Brien competing for the one position though...
Precisely. The way you play you need two always switched on, tireless, working both defensively and upfront midfielders. In order to have that you need at least three first class midfielders, especially since in some difficult matches you will need a midfield of three. With the amount of ground our 2 man midfield has to cover I don't think any of our CM players will complain about a 3 man rotation. Especially with 5 subs available I doubt you'll often see the same 2 midfielders finish the games they start
Also worth remembering that we have to be prepared to work around inevitable injuries, as things stand we're far too light weight in CM which i'm sure we'll address. Ideally by signing Garner
I think maintaining the Yatesy and Jimmy midfield partnership that they've developed is massively important, there's only so much gelling you can do with 2 weeks to go to the start of the season. Central midfield will be a key area next season so maintaining some familiarity there will help us a lot, especially through the start of the season
We may even see 3 midfielders if we are struggling to get a toe hold in games with 2-so theres plenty of space for CM's in our squad currently! With the amount of ground our 2 man midfield has to cover I don't think any of our CM players will complain about a 3 man rotation. Realistically that would make sense for them, a 10million fee on a 3 year contract with something like a 50 per cent of value buy back clause. The quality in the top 6 has pushed on from when fergie introduced Scholes and beckham, they can't afford to make any mistakesIf United aren't prepared to play him this season they should sell him to us, possibly with some kind of buy back clause, so he can continue his development.
Well they can afford mistakes and I’d argue that unless you are prepared to take a few risks they will never get back to the top.Realistically that would make sense for them, a 10million fee on a 3 year contract with something like a 50 per cent of value buy back clause. I'd assume man united aim is to win the league, City and Liverpool have got 90 plus points for the last few years. Fergie would have struggled there was not many seasons during his reign when they were that dominant that they got 90 plus points. They can afford to keep him on the bench like lingard and to use him as a bit part player but doubt they will start him. It's up garner does he want to sit on the bench or start every gameWell they can afford mistakes and I’d argue that unless you are prepared to take a few risks they will never get back to the top.
Not that I give a shit about them

Man Utd's Garner 'open' to Premier League loan move
James Garner is ready to make another loan switch if the homegrown Manchester United midfielder fails in his bid to become a regular under Erik ten Hag.
The 21-year-old returned to Old Trafford this summer after an unforgettable season with Nottingham Forest, where he became a fan favourite as they won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.
"I had a really good season last season - full of confidence, full of experience," the academy graduate told the PA news agency. "The experience I didn't have, I feel that now I do have.
"I played in some big pressure games and I just think it's a new and improved me. It was almost as perfect a loan experience that I could possibly have had.
"I played pretty much every single game, played well and ended up winning promotion. For me, it's probably the perfect loan.
"However, for me now because I've played two seasons back-to-back, where I've been playing games non-stop, I don't really want to stop that.
"I want to play week in, week out. That is of course what I want to do.
"I'm not too sure but pre-season has been good so far and, like I said, hopefully in the next two, three weeks - we've still got games left - I can show what I can do."
Garner made his first appearance of the tour as a second-half substitute in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in Perth.
"I want to play for United," Garner said. "Of course that's obviously my aim.
"But I feel like if I'm not going to be playing as regularly as I would like to then I'm definitely open to going back on loan to a Premier League side."
But I have read that a 'loan with an obligation to buy' is still permissable by PL rules even though we are loaning Dean Henderson from Man U.The key words there being "back on loan"
Hate to say it, but yes.Garner on loan makes no sense for you anymore. If he's not interested to leave ManU permanently, move on.
