James Bloody Perch!

£1m-£1.5m? You have had our pants down with this Perch lad, he barely even looks championship standard! I'm all for giving players time to adapt, develop further, settle in etc. But he has 4 yellows from 4 games and has looked all at sea in every game so far, as the annoying pun goes, he does look like a fish out of water! I was open minded about us signing him, but in 4 games he's made my mind up on his level of shitness!

I think we made a bid in January that Davies labelled 'derisory' and then he had a great game against Jonas at SJP. I think he was signed as cover for Simpson and S.Taylor. S.Taylor is injury prone and will probably leave anyway, and Simpson is still recovering from a long lay off. How he is keeping R.Taylor out the side though I don't know, he's looked clueless in every game so far.

He stands about 20 yards off his man, constantly ball watches and loves to dive in. His reading of the game is also poor and the less said about his positional play the better. He must be the only full back in history that has made Luke Varney look like Messi lol

Anyway, even though you have Dick Turpined us out of a lot of money for such a rubbish player, I wish you luck for the rest of the season, and hopefully if you go up, we don't pass you on the way down ;D

James who??

I've just opened my window and do know what I can hear ?

It's the whole of Nottingham laughing.

Apologies for Perch. We didn't make and additions to our squad over the summer, but most fans are of the opinion that it's a lot stronger now it doesn't have Perch in it.

I am sure calderwood suggested this signing ... Perch is good championship squad player , not much more... Any Forest fan would have drove him up there for anything over a million !!!!

I wish you'd posted this nearer to the transfer deadline day, but its still a fantastic and heartening read! Flogging Perch was as good as the 4-5 stellar signings Billy wanted.

Always thought that centre defence was his best position, he however became a 'utility' player always on the fringes. I think that is an honest answer!

This thread has brightened my day.

James has also now set a Premiership record. Yellow cards in the first 4 games of the season. lol

I'm sorry that you're finding out to your cost that Perch is shit, but it gives us something to chuckle about after our signing-free summer. lol

You wont find many on here disagreeing with you! Perch was our whipping boy last season! Was VERY surprised toon or anyone for that matter came in for him! You have clownderwood to thank for that! Thanks for posting though, your post made me realise how much better off we are without him!

Best of luck with the rest of the season by the way!

Makes a change, it's usually us on the receiving end... lol Good luck mate I do hope you stay up, I have a lot of time for Newcastle and their fans...

Well good luck to Perchy

We all knew he was so far out of his depth, but you go hoodwinked there

I'm sure Forest would have him back for half that now..lol

I would love to know what his salary is though, whatever it is, Id imagine his agent is still laughinglol

Good luck Geordies

when he comes back he will be better then ever now he has premiership experience

I was wondering if we had missed a trick with Perch, something Calderwood knew but Billy didn't... I saw him against Man U and unsurprisingly he got his arse handed to him, let's write that one off, not the nicest of debuts, can't say he did anything glaringly wrong against villa but they were shocking.

That tackle against wolves that could have got them a penalty was pretty dreadful and in similar vain to the one he did in the first leg against Blackpool. Don't want to pin blame on just him but over the two legs he did a lot to make sure we didn't win the tie.

Overall sounds like a good deal we got.

in the play offs Perch got the run around from DJ campbell in both legs and lets be fair DJ Campbell isn't going to set the world on fire anytime soon is he? I always rated Perchs work ethic and remember 2 or 3 times where he got stretchered off because he tried to head the ball when it was easier to kick it and got a boot to the head. Brave, willing and a strong tackler BUT lacking in vision, poor passing and a lack of a decent football brain

I quite like Dj campbell, he` s a good finisher quality goal on saturday.

Just hope Mckenna doesn`t become our "james perch" this season.

lol Well most of the lads on our forum that were looking for positives are now pretty much of the same opinion as everyone on here. Quite strange and all, as most on there are quite level headed and not like the 'deluded' fans you get on facebook, 606, footymad etc. In 4 games he has made the most optimistic fans brand him, shit, useless, rubbish and a whole load of others not worth posting on here lol

I will see the funny side when Hughton drops him and only plays him if we have a defensive crisis, in fact having him on the pitch is a bit of a crisis in itself! I can't see him even getting on the bench if Simpson and S.Taylor are fit at the same time.

Nathnufc - What's your opinion on Calderwood? Good for the club? Bad? indifferent?
