I'd love to see Beattie here but don't think we'd be able to afford his wages. At Sheffield United he was on £40k a week initially whilst the club he was brought in from (Everton I think?) of which Everton paid £20k up to when the end of his Everton contract would have been before dropping to just the £20k from Sheffield United. I expect going to Stoke will have upped his wages again and we'd now need to offer him around £30k a week to consider which is way too much in my eyes.

I know we have enough strikers but Beattie is arguably better than any of the current ones in the squad and would certainly score plenty of goals.
