Jair Paula da Cunha Filho

Not watched any of the club World Cup. Have our targets impressed out there then?
Jair is a defensive monster - clearance after clearance - odd mistake in him, but he's a kid. Igor Jesus looks good, can score - great hold up play, bought loads of fouls in good areas etc - looks strong, not afraid of the argi bargi - and got an excellent pass on him, not selfish.

Richard Rios - another beast, gladly take him onboard. Nearly scored an absolute worldy against Botafogo yesterday.

It was a very speculative suggestion by a Botofogo social media channel.
Pure guesswork, that suggested if that’s what got it over the line for Forest then it would be worth while
It could well be a perfect scenario for us and them as Textor seems to be doing loads for us and we might well owe him one for the Palace situation.

Wouldn’t be suppressed if the EM sells a chunk of his football empire to Textor at some point. Must be costing him a fortune.

Can’t think why else he’d be perma-keen to do us favours.

My conspiracy theory is that Cunha was being signed by us to go out on loan to Rio Ave or Oly this year, and the compromise will be that he stays in Brazil until seasons end instead.

I hope I’m not getting my hopes up, but I’m expecting this lad to be Murillo but also dominant in the air.

So I want him NOW.

A lot of top clubs trying to gazump by the sounds of things, based on his performance at this tournament.

He might just go back to the club who believed in him at first. Let's see what his thinking is.

You see talk of Real Madrid. That would be a ridiculous move to be honest, he needs game time, probably at a club with less expectation than some in the premier league. We are one of a number of clubs that would probably be good for his development.

Personally I'm not seeing the hype about him. He looks very awkward and I see when I see him he looks like he can't be bothered a lot of the time.

Now I've seen a few games I honestly wouldn't be arsed if we didn't sign him.

I remember a certain Viv Anderson when he couldn't play football, so maybe all is not lost?

Looks like a younger version of Willy Boly to me. That's not a bad thing by the way.

But the comparisons with Murillo are way off the mark.

Yeah different style and build but hopeful just as committed and effective.

I have not watched a single minute of the CWC - so have never seen him play.

There is seems to be such a wide range of opinion on this lad.
We haven't got much wrong when tapping into the South American market and if bigger clubs are now sniffing around - again it shows we can spot a talent.
For this reason - I hope we can get him over the line

I don’t think it was. Fwiw I watched some of Botafogo’s games at the CWC and wasn’t blown away by his defending. Didn’t see the PSG game though in fairness. Darren Fletcher on the FF podcast said he went to the Atletico game and wasn’t that impressed with Jair.

Get him in and have a good look at his positives and negatives. Work on the negatives and have him and the two M’s in a fantastic back line giving us finally enough speed everywhere.

One of them can easily step out going forwards and start attacks from deep which would suit our style perfectly, both him and Murillo have the talent for this, also will be useful for corner, free kicks etc. gives us another dimension.

Get him in even if it costs a bit more, will need him with all the games coming up.

From what I’ve seen (which is not much) Forest will need to work on his reactions in the box, seen him stood still ball watching a few times - won’t get away with that.
