He’s worth zilch next summer so £5m plus £5 in wages equals £10m or 3 league positions. So the question could be - will keeping Wood improve league position by 3 places?
Agree with this take.

He’s not lost his pace like some have said either, it’s just a different system that exposes this part of his game as he receives the ball further from goal.

Who knows? To turn that around- are we getting another player in the next 24 hrs for less than that that would improve our league position by three places? We need a player of his profile and he’s a known quantity.

I reckon if you'd bid £10m back in July it might have been accepted tbh. As I said a few posts back though, the biggest issue at this stage is that it would leave us with only one right winger with little time to find another one.
Unfortunately out fax machine was broken until August.

Fair question but we need resilience. If Delap fails, or gets injured next week, we need someone to step in. And in that situation I think Wood would gain us 3 places, yes.

At least.

We're also apparently now assuming, based on one fairly productive 20-minute appearance, that Delap is going to be a success.
Meanwhile Wood played 90 minutes against Leeds (where admittedly he was far from his best, much like the entire team), West Ham still want to buy him, and yet some on here are fully convinced he’s utterly finished as a professional footballer.
