Tom, often people will tell you things that they might believe to be true, as stated fact.

Often people are very keen to hear this sort of thing, so it gives the 'source' a bit of an ego boost for telling you.

Don't be too harsh on your source, chances are they 'knew' something borne out of Chinese Whispers, and thought you'd want to know.

Probably more accidental embellishment than outright lies.

Well listening to MA Santander were never even in the picture, so those rumours were bollox apparently we were on the verge of having a sponsorless season until VC put in an offer wecouldn't refuse.
