...but I really think this team has what it takes to get in the play-offs this season. There are a fair few others who can as well, but I think we have really shown what we can do this last week. 3 wins in 3 games, with Davies finally seeming to have found more or less what his best starting line up is. Couldn't be happier, and i can sniff a sneaky play-off spot!!
What do you reckon?

3 wins in 3 weeks, and I'd say we only really played 'good' for 45 minutes of the Scunthorpe game. But we're winning. It's what Billy Davies' teams do.... fight and win tough games.

I had us to finish 10th before the season, and thats where we are now. But at this rate who knows... its a long season lets just forget about the P word and roll on. ;D

Far too early. Good to get on a run of form, but we've played three teams that are likely to be down there, around the bottom quarter, at the end of the season. Newcastle will be a great game, it's a shame another week of boring international football has broken things up for us. I would still like a proper left-back, the centre-back can wait until January.

But we've done well. Three straight wins in this league is difficult to attain no matter who the opposition. I think that we possess one of the most dangerous attacking forces in the division which is good for us, if Davies can get it all together then who knows? But there are eleven other sides who will fancy their chances by now.

..... and the only two teams we have played in the top 10 we have lost to, at home as well! But hey, let's be positive as I am, honest, I am!

I said in the chat room at the start of the match that I don't even bother looking at the table until at least November.

If you're losing most weeks (Ipswich and Plymouth) then I understand fans wanting the manager out, but when you've only lost three of your first 11, it's not a bad start at all.

Middlesbrough have lost three times already and they're third.

Davies is an excellent manager and we have some excellent players. We're still two short of an excellent squad all round, but I'm confident we'll buy or loan where needed.

Our defence is ok, if a little shaky at times and it'll be interesting to see how Wes and Chambo deal with Marlon Harewood and Andy Carroll in two weeks.

Tyson against Ryan Taylor will be interesting as well because he likes to get forward, so catching him out of position could be key. Kishanishvilli is quite slow too, so pace up front could work in our favour. I'd imagine Earnie and Blackstock will start as long as Earnshaw comes through the Wales game unscathed.

I'm confident we'll be in a similar position this time next month too.

Make no mistake, that would still be a fantastic position to be in come the end of the season. Our first target, as far as I'm concerned, is to amass fifty points and as a result, Championship safety. Once that's secured I might dare to look further up the table. Mid-table consolidation is the name of the game. Realistically, I think we'll be far better equipped for a play-off push next season.

100% agree with you there.

We're more than a quarter of the way to fifty points already and we're a quarter of the way through the season (almost).

If we were to get 16 points in each quarter, we'd finish with 64 points. That would have secured 10th place last season, but I'd imagine will be more of a 12th or 13th place this time. That's fine with me!

That's been my view since July and will continue to be so for the forseeable future.

The future is bright. The future is red.

I don't like being positive because I get slated due to not being a regular attendee.

I believe we'll be upper mid table come March and then we'll push for a playoff position by May. ;D

I shall be delighted if we do although there's still much work to be done other than get the results. We are in the process of building a team and, although it's a moving target, we are still a way off from having the squad Billy wants. We also need to be more consistant. Our recent successes and points have been a result of playing an excellent game for part of the match. We need to be producing that standard for the full 90 minutes.

We're a good team right now with potential to be much better. We're not yet great and until we are then I don't think we're ready to seriously challenge Premiership teams each week. It will come though when we're ready.

This is probably the first time in 5 years we've been as high as we are, so pretty pleased. I too had us down for 10th and if we acheive that it would be a great season for us, but I do think we can finish higher. We're tought to beat and we're winning games that over the years we were so used to losing. Games away against teams at the bottom was always a classic example of games you knew we were going to lose. Games like Oldham away where you knew we would be outmuscled and beaten. But know we seem to be winning those games. It might not be pretty but I get the feeling from Billy that his tactic is to find out about the opposition in the first half and then try to expose their weakness in the 2nd half.

I think alot of people dont give enough respect to other teams and expect us to win, but any win in the league is a good result, and we can see from the league at the minute that it wont be a walk for anyone. Boro have lost 3 and Newcastle have dropped 4 points at home in the last 2 games.

But what pleases me most as I said is the ability to win those games we knew were banana skins. Under CC or before we would have lost today 2-0.

i don't want to burst any bubbles, but when we beat them plymouth had two points, peterborough have 7 and scunthorpe have 11. it's not exactly world beating. yeah we're better than last season, but we've got some way to go before starting to think of wembley in may.

i would suggest taking each game as it comes, see where we are at christmas and set targets then.

great results but we are noway near good enough for promotion which im happy about.

We've approached these games very cautiously, and played very tough and physical, whilst inflicting just enough flair to damage the oppostion.

I to have the simple target of a Top-Half finish, but Forest Fans are greedy and impatiant(in all honesty me included) and always strive to have something to play for at the end of each season.

Infact f*** that.

Out of the 11 games we've played, 8 of them are in the bottom 10!

Do not get carried away.. It will get much harder.

I just love people who look for the negatives within the positives.

It's nice being where we are, especially when you consider the fact that we've had a Cohen at left back, McCleary at right back, Earnshaw up front on his own, an injured Moussi playing about 70 minutes when he wasn't fit enough for 30 and, at times, our best midfielder left on the bench.

With all that ineptitude from Davies, it's a bloody miracle we are where we are, but hey, I'll take it, we should all relish it, because when Davies finally realises our squad is not fit for tinkering with, we should develop even more consistency and put together some more decent runs like the one we're on now!

Good times.

And had we played these games with Calders, I doubt we would have taken 3 points from them, never mind 9

Exactly. I'd be ecstatic with some progress and improvement from the team this year; whilst it would be grand to see us flirting with the playoffs (or better...who knows!) I would be happy if we finished anywhere above mid table.

Improvement is evident over the last season, and we're getting better and - most importantly - harder to beat.

Previous Forest sides of recent seasons would have let their heads drop after conceding today, but the lads stuck at it and pulled out the win.

It's OK to say we've only beaten poor sides, but you can only play what's in front of you, and the confidence gained from three straight wins will set us up nicely (hopefully) for Newcastle at home on the 17th!

I reckon with a little bit of luck on our side anything is possible... Just bear in mind it was only only Plymouth, Scunthorpe and Peterbrough

I think if we can stay fairly injury free and not to many suspensions then we could do well this season.

lets hope we can stay in the top half of the league and then maybe we can bring in some more defensive cover to strengthen the team and finish the season with a good run.

it's still early but nice to be thinking positivly for a long time about forest
