There was a time not so long back that a story such as the one that broke today would of been followed by a witch hunt by fletch and britles on 106 (rightly or worngly they seemed to love to get in MAs business) and the evening post used to love doing there bit, but I feel now the first sign of controversary and radio nottingham go running and quickly jump to the clubs deffence. have the club gagged the media

This is maybe why the last season and this season, Evening post do stupid headlines like "We're ready to battle and win the Rams"- then end up losing.
They did the same was CC was in charge, then It looks stupid.

Fletcher and Birtles did so much damage to Forest, whilst following their self appointed self seeking Radio show. They appealed to the lowest common denominator and any fans ( In fact if you had half a brain and could string two sentences together, you were capable of winning an argument with either of those two ), used to be faded out allowing them to get their points over, without standing the right of reply, hence why the show failed in the end................Sports Shock Jocks, my foot.......seen better things flushed down the loo.

Nottm Evening post are about as crusading as a local Rotary Club Dinner.................so if you want shite stirring you've had it.

Yes, Darren Fletcher and Garry Birtles DID get wound up at times, especially Darren Fletcher. However, the reason for Fletcher losing his cool at times was because he was (and still is I suppose) as passionate about the club as we are. This made for good radio and he often apologised after his outbursts. These heated debates had huge listening figures and the only reason he left was because a female Programme-Controller joined the station and decided she did not want to pay for the rights to full-match Forest commentary. Understandably, as primarily a football commentator, he decided to continue in this role elsewhere. The show never 'failed' and had an extremely loyal following which continued with the rebranded 'Legends Football Phone-In'.

Probably part of the deal of Radio Nottingham getting exclusive rights of the commentary was that the old Darren Fletcher radio show was not repeated on the beeb. Matchtalk is nothing like their old show was, more in line with the club then outright criticizing them.

I'd rather have it that way. Used to like listening to Darren Fletcher and Larry Lloyd when they were on GEM AM, went a bit shit when they got too big for their boots. (a lot bigger in Larry's case :wink: )
