Is McKenna the signing of the Century?

Is Paul Mckenna the best signing we have made in the last ten years?

Sure, we have had better technical players than him; Reid, Jenas. But they came through the academy. I can't think of another player that Forest have bought from another club that has made such a noticable difference to the team for at least ten years.

Without him I think we would be doing as we all thought - Mid Table Security.

How he has never signed for another top team, or a Prem club, I will never know!

Today, towards the end of the first half Forest started to take the foot off a bit and we started to get a bit sloppy. McKenna soon put a stop to that.

Who last season would have done that? Would Perch shout at Wilson to tell him to stop f***ing about at the back? No, cause if he did Wilson would just shout "f*** off you lanky peice of pepperami".

I hope we do go up, not just for us, but a player like McKenna deserves a shot at the Prem. Its where he clearly belongs.

I think that he's been a good signing and a good player, but the title of this thread is hugely exaggerated.

Quite possibly
However, I think if Shorey and Raddy sign permanently they have the ability to eclipse Mckenna.

No wonder my post count..
If a general contract signifies a signing then surely Billy Davies should be awarded this accolade?

he's been a key signing indeed, and has been the type of player Forest have been missing for many years. He breaks up the play, is the player who is always free to give the ball to and is pulling the strings to let raddy, ando and co attack.

hats off to BD for seeing we needed a player like that.

To be fair, I think a lot of us knew that years ago after seeing David Prutton and Gary Holt!

Marshall.

He's a great player and a great signing.

Yes, I would say Nigel pulled off a cracker there when he signed Billy.

William.

As a Forest fan, I want nothing more than a cult hero captain, In Mckenna the heart is there and the determination,he gets stuck in and terrorises our own players never mind the opposition, he is the 2nd best captain we have had in 20 years.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - who mentioned Gary Holt. I saw him earlier in the season playing for Lowestoft Town in the FA Cup against Sutton Coldfield Town. I think Isthmian Northern Division Fottball was just a little too much for him. ;D

There was a period shortly before old Iron Lungs left when my friday night's sleep would be shot with a recurring dream of Holt backing off an attacker who would throw a shoulder and beat the the former scottish international. It was rarely the same attacker and was rarely the same move that beat him, but it was also from the same perspective in the main stand and Fporest were always defending the trend end. It finnaly end one night when a particularly fitfull night after being beat he looked diectly at me and winked. It never happened after that. It was like torture by video tape. :D

He is the signing of the century, in my opinion.

Since 2000 I'm guessing you're meaning? Can't think, off the top of my head, if any signing has made more of an impact so quickly and what an impact it is.

At 20-1 for first goal last night at least he was the signing of the century ;D

Absolutely the best signing in recent memory.

The best part about it is, the way he's settled in so quickly. You can't underestimate what a big move this was for him, having only ever played for Preston for all his adult life. I think people forget sometimes that it can be quite daunting to move to a totally new city, and I must admit I was slightly apprehensive about a player who'd never been anywhere else and how he'd settle. look at Neil Harris, hero for Millwall, useless for us. The way McKenna has slotted in and become the leader we all desperately hoped he would is amazing, not to mention his fitness for a guy who plays every game and is over 30.

Paul, we salute you!

we've needed a proper "Midfield General" for a few years; and now we have one.

The bloke is absolute class; never stops moving around, always available and always talking, telling the other players where to go and what to do.

He could well be the missing piece that turns a good side in to an exceptional one!

The best signing in the past 9 years?

Yep, I have to agree. Great captain, plays an effective simple game a la Roy Keane.

Seems to have the respect of all at the club.

Brilliant!

Great Signing- I was only saying down the game yesterday how it amazes me he hasnt been given a shot in the prem?? i could have seen him as a Everton or Villa man when he was a bit younger....

Probably agree 2nd best Captain in 20 years but i thought Colin Cooper was also a Good'un.

David Johnson & Paul Gerrard were good signings and some of the talent we've produced through the Youth System has been top drawer- for me Kelvin Wilson has been sh*t hot since he has returned- Des Walker-esque!!!!

If we return to the promised land then any of the above mentioned names can have a Free Gallon off me at Southbank any time!!!!YOU REDS!!!

Yes.
Whilst all the signings in the summer have played their part, McKenna has had the biggest impact on the team.
