Positive that Edu is making an impact already, working behind the scenes, when he’s not been officially announced as working for Forest yet.
He's so well respected yet it's mad he only played about 160 games in his entire career and scored less than 10 goals for an attacking midfielderPositive that Edu is making an impact already, working behind the scenes, when he’s not been officially announced as working for Forest yet.
Wow: didn’t realise he’d played so few games. He's so well respected yet it's mad he only played about 160 games in his entire career and scored less than 10 goals for an attacking midfielder

He's had a longer career in the strategic side than as a footballer which I guess is interesting too. He's so well respected yet it's mad he only played about 160 games in his entire career and scored less than 10 goals for an attacking midfielder

Im struggling to understand how that works IF we play with limited posession as we have done all season, MGW spends most of his time in our final 3rd anyway, and comes to life when we break up play.I'd actually be interested to see how we'd look with him playing as a 10 with MGW dropping into the midfield. I hope it's something Nuno takes a look at in preseason.

Yes, I was surprised to see how little he'd actually played as well, though I did like the look of him at Arsenal. He's so well respected yet it's mad he only played about 160 games in his entire career and scored less than 10 goals for an attacking midfielder

That is true, but we have had Lodi and Felipe (who admittedly came from Spain) and then Murillo and Danilo settled in quickly, although the jury is still out on Miguel, it's only Scarpa we have had from there who wasn't successful, though we don't know how much of that was down to the crypto scam and how much of that he would normally have otherwise settled, as he seemed to be chill in the area with his skateboard and stuff before that all started. It takes a special kind of talent to come from another continent and make an impact in your first season in the Premier League.
I don't know anything about him to be honest so whilst I hope he is that, I would not be surprised if he (and his two colleagues) need some time to acclimatise so I'm not really expecting a huge amount this year.

This is where I think bringing in a top quality No6 (Douglas Luiz) is critical. Once we do that we can start to look at controlling the midfield possession better and in certain scenarios we could potentially see the setup I suggested.Im struggling to understand how that works IF we play with limited posession as we have done all season, MGW spends most of his time in our final 3rd anyway, and comes to life when we break up play.
My wish is that we look to mix it up and have more of the ball, be a bit more proactive instead of sitting back so much. Our options are endless if we do in my opinion.
Does Nuno do that that though?
Do you think thats the plan mate? This is where I think bringing in a top quality No6 (Douglas Luiz) is critical. Once we do that we can start to look at controlling the midfield possession better and in certain scenarios we could potentially see the setup I suggested.

Agreed , our lack of possession ( stats wise ) was because we gave the ball away on transition so many times . We’d have hammered teams if we had kept the ball better . Mind you , I’d like someone lurking on the half way line on oppo corners etc . We often cleared successful and the ball was back in the box moments later .This is where I think bringing in a top quality No6 (Douglas Luiz) is critical. Thats quite simply not remotely true.Agreed , our lack of possession ( stats wise ) was because we gave the ball away on transition so many times . I genuinley hope so, Im not sure Nuno has that in mind, i know he went ultra defensive last season and the chemistry was there to counter....and lets be honest, it worked.
I just wonder how adaptable he is, or wether the formula worked so well last season that he went 'all in'.
What do you think?
I know , which is why I stated stats wise .. we had ample opportunities to transition as per the Nuno plan and undoubtedly 100s of training hrs towards this .. but we only successfully achieved a few of these because of poor executionThats quite simply not remotely true.
We had less posission because thats how Nuno set us up to play. Losing the ball contributed to around an absolute minimal amount of our posession stats.....As annoying as it was.
Agree on that 100%I think so yes (admittedly some of that is me trying to manifest it) but Nuno is smart, he'll know it's not sustainable long term to play the way we have and that we need other ways to change things up.
Tbh I'd be extremely disappointed in him if he doesn't address this and load some alternative bullets into his chamber.
There's nothing wrong with having the same approach next year but I really want to see us adding quality and totally different alternatives if we need them.

agreed, there were matches where we needed something different to score and couldn't find it. There was also matches that were there to be put to the sword, but we didn't do that either.I think so yes (admittedly some of that is me trying to manifest it) but Nuno is smart, he'll know it's not sustainable long term to play the way we have and that we need other ways to change things up.
