Eager Igor Jesus quote after his last game:

“I really like this club; it’s a club that welcomed me with great affection. The decision I made is another dream I have of playing in a big league,” he said.
“When you get the chance to play in a big league like the Premier League, you can’t waste it because you don’t know when another opportunity will come along.
“I achieved the goals I had here at Botafogo, winning the Libertadores and the Brasileiro, two major championships. Now I hope to continue my journey in this new challenge in my life.
“Now I have the opportunity to play for Nottingham Forest, and I hope to have a great season there.”

“I think I have a bit of the characteristics of English football: contact and speed. I’ll do well there because I’m ready for this big challenge,”
Jesus explained.
“We know it’s a new league, of course it’s different playing in the Premier League. The game has to be faster. I want to get there soon so I can adapt as quickly as possible and perform well there too.”

He's not on his lonesome. Always easier when you have fellow countrymen around you.

I like his thoughts but I presume that he hasn't even been to the Nottingham yet?

Highly possible he has it's its well known that Nottingham is a popular holiday destination for Brazillians and specifically those based in Rio.

John Robertson

looks highly promising , might have to play 2 upfront as he's highly mobile and attacks down both channel as his heatmap indicate.

Or you have the wingers running beyond him. Elanga in particular - could be the Son to Jesus's Kane.

When I lived in Brazil, only the real football heads or the videogame players knew “Nottingham” as they all insist on calling us.

I bet they all know who we are now.

I'm still got my flag stuck in the campsite of potential No10. At the very least it's a good option to have in there to give MGW a rest in some games if he stays and the same with Wood.

Funny you should say that Notcher, He can play on the left side of a 3 as well

I'd actually be interested to see how we'd look with him playing as a 10 with MGW dropping into the midfield. I hope it's something Nuno takes a look at in preseason.

What about him and Elanga running off Wood, with MGW dropping down into midfield, in a kind of 4-3-2-1? Jesus to the left and Elanga to the right, with Wood in the middle. MGW and Anderson as 8's in a midfield 3 and then preferably a new and proper number 6.

Jesus to the left of me, Elanga's to the right , Chris Wood's in the middle with you

That's next season's song sorted.

On a serious note though it's definitely something to try, we need different ways of trying to open the tin and I like the look of that. Imagine adding Douglas Luiz to that so your midfield 3 is him, MGW and Anderson. Mouthwatering.

I don't see a scenario where Jesus plays with Wood unless Jesus is the #10 replacing MGW.

Just don't see the complimentary skill set.

Jesus dropping deep to link Elanga and CHO through on goal as ultimately the more advanced forward two? Absolutely.

Elanga and an as yet unknown left winger hugging the touchlines and putting balls into Wood? Yep.

Jesus and Wood up top together, with... what are the wingers doing behind them? You can't have them wide as we'll lose the central midfield battle as presumably Anderson will be part of the two and then you're relying on a solo CM pivot to defend against what is likely to be three opposition CMs, good luck. And you can't have them inverting into advanced areas either as you've already got that area of the pitch covered with Wood, even if Jesus drops back, just no space to work in. Only way it might work is in a 3-5-2 with wing backs but that then puts tonnes of pressure on Cuiabano to be properly good as you'd want your left wing back to overlap out wide and be left footed to provide natural width, it can't be Williams at LWB.

Too many drawbacks with Wood & Jesus on the pitch together upfront.

Suspect they'll play together when we are chasing a game as a bit of a punt...

I would have thought Wood and Jesus up front together gives us a completely different option, where neither winger plays. Two forwards, MGW behind them and a compact midfield three.

Not saying we'd use it regularly, but it would give us a different option if needed tactically. Could also be used if (as at the end of the season) one of our wingers is injured and playing just the other leaves us unbalanced and lacking goal threat.

Or even Elanga with wood and Jesus behind them and MGW in the midfield 3 but further in front. Almost a box front 4 in possession.
