If you renew your season ticket online...

... you can clearly only pay by card or paypal linked to a card etc.

Does that mean the club still fleece a 5% fee from you if you use a Visa backed debit card.

Anyone know? I can't see anything on the T&C's...

I'm seriously thinking of renewing in person & paying in 50p coins on the grounds that card payments are a ripoff - why do they charge 5% for debit card payments when the money comes straight out of my account faster than a cheque, which wouldn't cost anything extra?

Remember this is a business that still doesn't have chip and pin facilities...

However with the new system put in place last week it may?

The online ticket facility looks alot better than the old one i must say!

You can't pay in installments on the new site from what I've seen, so I'm just going to fill in my booklet when it arrives.

Unless anyone knows other wise?

Paid on my visa debit card (first direct), no surcharge.
It registers it as "delta" in the payment type (you don't select anything, just type in your card number)

Brilliant, many thanks for that.

It's a faff having to make two trips to the cashpoint every year just to avoid them charging me extra lol

I might go for the online route.

Why don't you go in to the bank and just withdraw in one go, rather than making two trips to the cashpoint?

Because that involves human interaction, plus it involves me going into Beeston - probably at lunchtime - and rinsing a whole lunch break queueing for some cash.

Alternately I can nip to the cashpoint on the way home the day before I renew, and then to the one outside the ticket office the day I renew :)

The issue is with regards to liability.

If you pay for a season ticket on a credit card and the club goes bust during the course of the season, you could effectively claim some of the cost back from the credit card company. In this scenario, the club would be bust leaving the card company footing the bill.

Hence, the credit card company charge the club for going down this route. I think Forest only get cash "on the drip" after each game rather than getting it in one slug when everyone renews. Hence the overdraft is probably higher due to not getting all the cash in on day one - additional interest costs.

Colleague has just mentioned to me the cost of renewing by phone - premium line charges have applied - care!!

If you go down to the TO to get your new season ticket you will only get a receipt for it got this text off the cople who sit next to me in the ground at 1137 this morning

Just been down the City Ground, paid £1020 for mine and Craig's ST & away memberships to be told there not in stock yet. Given a receipt and told us they would send them out in the next couple of weeks. Distgusting!!!

She's not happy lol

Right.

Stop press.

See attachments.

"Credit/Debit card
If you are paying by a credit or Visa-backed debit card
such as Electron you will incur a 3% surcharge on top
of the value of the Season Ticket. This is the rate that
our merchant service provider charges the club for Season Tickets purchased using these cards. Please be aware that
Visa Electron cards can only be used in person at the Ticket Office as the card must be swiped and a signature is required.
If you pay by Maestro or Solo card, you will avoid the credit or Visa-backed debit card premium.
"

Maestro/Solo is free of surcharge.
