It’s hard to present an opinion of a player that isn’t wholly positive without inviting comments that you’ve written them off or have some underlying negative agenda.

I hope he has a brilliant end to the season and an amazing Forest career. I’m yet to be convinced that will happen, but I don’t equate saying that with heresy or club treason. I too saw him beaten more easily than I’d like or expect to see from others on Saturday… but he’s bound to be rusty as hell and that will expose his relative weaknesses, of which lack of mobility is the main one in my view. My jury is out, but isn’t the jury out for most things that are new? So long as there’s good will behind it..,
Both sides of this argument rely a bit too much on hyperbole when making their claims/observations.

Struggling to see where those people are. I see 1 or 2 who don't rate him but they could easily be proved wrong between now and the end of the season.

There's far more who think he's been a lot better than he has been.
It's already been highlighted that one poster's 'review' of his performance was completely wide of the mark.

My concern with Sangare is his speed of thought and foot. I imagine that is what ultimately put off clubs higher up the food chain than us, especially in England. He just looks too slow to play in his role in the Premier League for me.

I just don’t see how he will be able to improve those sufficiently to become the player we all hoped he would become.

My only faint hope is that we may not have seen him anywhere near full fitness since he arrived. He could have another couple of gears in him if he can stay injury free. Similar to how Chris Wood looked so unfit when he signed but now is razor sharp.

It’s a faint hope though. I’d settle for him staying fit and being a useful addition to the midfield mix or selling him and recouping as much of our outlay as possible. Not giving away dangerous free kicks with clumsy tackles would be a start too (he even managed to get one in on Saturday).

As much as people say some of us are desperate to see him fail, I actually think much of the hyperbole and desperation comes from those who want him to succeed so badly that they are willing overlook what has been generally speaking subpar performances and exaggerate a handful of games where he was decent.

Understand critising his lack of pace, but he's actually been one of the players who needs the least time to move the ball on in our entire team.

He's good at winning tackles & then playing it quickly & accurately to more creative players. If we were all Brentford fans we'd love him, because *STATISTICALLY* he's one of the best players in the league at doing it.

It’s not on the ball that concerns me, it’s off it.

Spots danger late then lumbers over and fouls, usually.

He’s absolutely fine on the ball, bar the odd daft give away that all midfielders sometimes do (Foden vs Arsenal, Nico vs Bournemouth, Danilo a couple of times vs BHA etc).

He was beaten easily at least a couple of times and gave away two pretty rubbish fouls just sticking a leg out. It's not far off.

Not that it matters much because he's rusty as f*** and I doubt he would have even come on if we weren't well up.

The Dominguez bashers are gonna hate this chart.

My comment wasn't "completely wide of the mark" though was it? Several others have said the same. Defending him like you're his agent is strange.

I've consistently been one of the more balanced voices in this thread. I was advising caution when most here were creaming themselves at his signing and saying he was going to drag us up the league single handedly. I've said several times that I think he's very good when he's near the ball, he uses those long legs to pinch the ball off opponents and set attacks in motion with a range of short and long passes, but when he's further away from it he's too slow over the ground and can be bypassed. Is he ever going to be one of the league's best number 6s? No I doubt it, because of the mobility issue. Is he good enough to do a job for Forest when called upon? Yes absolutely, an opinion by the way clearly shared by the guy who should be an absolute shoo-in for manager of the season so far.

Sangare has played 3.1 games this season. You've clearly made your mind up some time ago that he's "not up to PL standard", and so you've chosen to focus only on the 0.1 that was his first competitive football in six months rather than the 3.0 when he led the league in tackles. It's stuff like that that shows some people just refuse to give him a fair crack of the whip.

My opinion is also based on the ~20 other games he has played for us, so you're assuming again. You can't come on here and hand on heart say he played well the other day. When people are saying he did of course they're going to get bites. Then you have a pop at them afterwards to having a different opinion.

The thing is, he wasn't terrible the other day by any means.
And sometimes, watching him he exudes a kind of class that I don't see often in players of his type.
Then he gets beaten and takes ages to run back and get in position and i think 'how can that guy play for this team?'
Maybe its just sharpness and rust. It seems like he's been constantly coming back from injury every time I see him play.

I still have the feeling he'll come good, but I wouldn't put him in our top 4 midfielders right now, personally, from what I've seen.

I think, perhaps like Awoniyi, he needs a run of games to get into a real groove. Just a shame that, historically at least, everytime he gets a few games and starts looking a really good player for us he gets injured.

There is a quality player in there, for sure. He wasn't highly rated by accident - I just think it really depends on whether he can stay fit.

I’m on the fence about him but trust Nuno fully to get the best out of him, all we can do is wait and see if he can contribute or not.

The price tag for us was a lot of money but for a PL team 30 odd million isn’t exactly a large sum so even if he does flop I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Nuno clearly rates him - he was basically our first choice midfielder until he got injured.

Just a case of getting him back fit and up to speed.

He's about the only player left we can get even slightly negative about.

Compared to wishing Andy Reid miraculously recovers from the injury that he never will, as he was one of the few decent players we had.

What a season to be alive
