Understand critising his lack of pace, but he's actually been one of the players who needs the least time to move the ball on in our entire team.

He's good at winning tackles & then playing it quickly & accurately to more creative players. If we were all Brentford fans we'd love him, because *STATISTICALLY* he's one of the best players in the league at doing it.

I like him ... but you can prove anything with stats. He has completed less than 10% the number of passes that MGW has this season so his position on that chart is based on a relatively small sample size

Who is going to tell Morato he is a bell end?

Let me know and I will have the air ambulance and organ donor team on stand by.

Priceless Alf.

More proof that Jota Silva just isn't good enough for us.
I would assume that comes from him coming on at a time when were not trying to move the ball quickly, but are trying to take time out of the game by carrying the ball, with much more distance between players and with much less emphasis on neat little triangles, but whether that reasoning touches the sides of the opinion , i doubt.

Looking at him in isolation last night, although there's obviously still some way for him to go in terms of PL match-intensity, that was a decent performance from him in my opinion. It was encouraging to see him constantly looking to pass through the lines and/or trying to get our wide men away.

Couple of good assists last night. Shows he can spot the sort of killer pass that Yates/Dominguez wouldn't see. He was massively helped by Exeter giving him Dutch league levels of time on the ball.

Good to have him back but I wouldn't be starting him in the league just yet.

I think some people may see his stature and underestimate his ability to ping some superb forward passes - Exeter gave him acres last night.

Only complaint would be some of his first time lay offs back to the defence were a bit too casual and could cause problems against a team that presses us higher up in the prem. Although of course, that may have just been because there was little pressure on him or the defence when in possession.

Dealing with the constant intensity of the PL is going to be his main challenge from here on, something I assume that Nuno feels he is able to meet.

That's my concern too as Exeter's manager said his gameplan involved letting us have the ball

Sangare looked class in the pre season warm ups too

But come Fulham at the weekend, I doubt he'll have the luxury of time to pick a pass & that's when he'll need to earn his coin

Do I hope he can? Yes

Do I think he can? I have my doubts

Was quality against Exeter but noticeably faded second half.

Suspect he's still a fair way off match fitness and I'd be surprised if he started next game. Suspect another bench cameo.

I thought he played really well last night. Granted it was against lower league opposition, but on a night when so many players didn't turn up at least he is one of the few that can say he did his bit.

It's weird that everyone in this thread is talking as if he's only played preseason and yesterday's game this season. Actually he played our first 3 games in the Premier League and was doing pretty well despite obviously not having as much time on the ball.

I dont think 3 games where we only won 1 (against an absolutely shit Southampton side) is a great justification to be honest

Point is we know he can cut it in the premier league because he was doing so this season until he got injured. The whole team hadn't clicked into gear at that point, but Sangare was one of our better performers (led the league in tackles, as I should probably stop pointing out).

I keep seeing comments that it was 'only Exeter' but then why weren't other established pros (Yates, Moreno, Jota plus others) able to stamp their authority on the game?

For cricket fans it's the same argument you see when people try to play down Don Bradman's average. If it was so easy back then everyone would be averaging near 100.

Indeed.

Sangare is one of those players who can never really win in the eyes of some because, even when he has an excellent game, they'll always contrive a reason as to why it doesn't actually count.

Ranging from "it's only Exeter" to "he won't be able to do it in the intensity of the PL" - the latter despite the fact one of his best games for us was against Newcastle away, who are one or the most high intensity teams in the league.

Like you say, a number of players who are deemed good enough put in sub par at best performances - which you'd think would ring alarm bells if it was "only Exeter".

People are allowed to hold opinions on players.

I'm not convinced against Sangare. I thought he was OK at the start of the season and I don't care who the opposition is if he has a good game like he did on Tuesday night, but there is a body of evidence which suggests that his ability to recover space and provide a shield for the back four isn't up to the same level as Yates or Dominguez, and I think that is a problem that is hard to ignore.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, I think Sangare was brought in to turn us into a more possession orientated side. Cooper clearly didn't want to be a park-the-bus type manager but felt it was the only way to get results, our top brass decided Sangare was the man to get hold of the ball and help us play out from the back in a slow and considered manner. Unfortunately for him, we've gone the other way, and solidified our "we don't want possession" approach with a fast, direct, counter attacking style.

I don't think he's terrible, I just don't think he's the right fit for us right now.

He hasnt proved he can cut it in the PL at all though. Southampton were basically a champ team then and I think the point Wolves got against us was their only point for weeks. I dont think he is shit by any means but I dont think his style of play will translate well long term to the PL. He will probably have a decent career in Italy or Spain ultimately. Time will tell of course!
