Ibrahim Sangaré of CÔTE D'IVOIRE

Indored

First Team Squad
I ain’t one of those.

I want to see him become an outstanding first team player who helps us out in the years to come.
If Murillo makes a crap pass it’s instantly forgotten, if it’s Ibrahim he is crap.
MGW can get away with loads and nothing is said.
As for those who booed him last year, you really should be ashamed of yourselves.

Guess you won’t be cheering next time he scores right ?

Danilo has been out just as long?
Yes and had 10 ok minutes against a team in the bottom of the Championship - followed by another 3 weeks of intensive training before a good hour on Saturday - even he started slowly and then got better before running out of energy.

The jury's still out on Sangare.

I haven't seen him have a really good game for us yet.
Then again, he hasn't really been playing in this winningest Forest team yet either. Maybe it'll give him the big boost he needs to show us what he can do.

I don't really see why it has to be 'people want him to fail' or 'its just the price tag that makes people not like him' when we're telling you why some fans don't rate him over and over again. Its because he hasn't played well for us yet.

There's a massive difference between playing matches for a losing relegation battle team and playing for a confident, winning team though. Maybe he improves us massively now. Who knows?

He has played enough for us for me to form a preliminary judgement though, which is that he is very neat on the ball, has a great first touch, and is strong, but needs to up his speed of thought and ability to sprint back and cover defensive positions.

I will settle for Sangare being an unspectacular but efficient cog in a winning match day squad. I don't need him to be a stand out player, I need him to just go about his business so others can do the same. Lot of people want to knock the man down, same as they do with Jota, Sosa or once upon a time even Wood who I was admittedly shaking my head at the signing of when it first happened. learned a lesson there. Let's build our players up. FFS look at the player Williams is this season and compare with last. Players need to play to find form.

Categoric proof a section of our fan base have zero interest in judging him objectively
Its actually the opposite.

Unless you are suggesting that objectively, this didn't happen.

Your response seems to me proof that people will ignore stuff that objectively happened if it doesn't agree with their pre-existing assessment.

Well I didn’t see him get walked past 3 times, post the clips to change my mind and I’ll judge it objectively.

I'm at work (allegedly) so I don't have access to any clips unfortunately.
I'll have a look later tonight if i remember though :)

He has had some good games. To say otherwise is just wrong. Was leading the way in terms of tackles and interceptions for the whole league in the first few matches of the season before his injury.

Also recall him having a really good game at Newcastle last season (Wood hat trick game) before having to go to AFCON.

Injuries and illness have held him back ultimately - but fingers crossed they're now behind him.

I'm willing to accept that it might just be my eye and particular things i'm looking at that make him seem worse to me than he actually is.
His stats are pretty good, there's no arguing with that.
It frustrates me no end when a player in midfield is beaten and doesn't sprint back to try and make it right, and that's just something I see in Sangare more than in our other players. Sometimes it looks like he'd rather stick a leg out and concede a free kick than sprint with intensity to get back in position.
That might just be the other side of the coin when it comes to him being really good at making interceptions and tackles i suppose.

TBH Danilo had that problem at first too, but he's looked much better defensively from what I've seen since preseason.

I just watched the five minutes in question - in the plus column a couple of interceptions and a header. Rutter does beat him with skill a couple of times but the second time Sangare brings him down for a foul near the edge of the box. Not "walked past" once as far as this viewer could discern.

Our record signings sometimes have that impact on certain sections of our support.
Not just us, spurs treatment of johnson, practically stifled his development. Like they are getting some sort of enjoyment out of saying I told you so, when it's their team that suffers from him not being that good.

He definitely looks nowhere near the quality of what we paid, but I'll still back him to prove otherwise. This time next year we might be looking at him and saying what great value he was.

It's weird how desperate some are to see him fail.

Struggling to see where those people are. I see 1 or 2 who don't rate him but they could easily be proved wrong between now and the end of the season.

There's far more who think he's been a lot better than he has been.

If I had one wish granted before I die, it is that Forest supporters stop pilloring their players.
I'm not picking on you, Cortez, too many of us start picking on one player:
Awoniyi comes in for a lot of criticsm, that isn't go to help his confidence;
Jota, whom I have said "Isn't good enough to be a starter in the Prem" in the past, gets a regular panning;
Sangare, who was in no way responsible for making Forest part with £35 million, another - despite him suffering horrible injuries, and contracting serious diseases;
and while praise is heaped on Wood, it isn't that long ago he was described as a dead loss; Elanga had a dip in form "get rid" was the cry from some; Sels needed to be 2nd choice and we needed a proper goalie; Williams - couldn't defend for toffee; Yates - technically inept and a yellow card magnet... the list goes on.
I am as guilty as others, and I hereby promise that I will stop criticising our players, apart from Dennis whom I think has been stealing a living!
Join me, everyone, in being positive about our players.
Always remember, form is temporary but class is permanent.

It’s hard to present an opinion of a player that isn’t wholly positive without inviting comments that you’ve written them off or have some underlying negative agenda.

I hope he has a brilliant end to the season and an amazing Forest career. I’m yet to be convinced that will happen, but I don’t equate saying that with heresy or club treason. I too saw him beaten more easily than I’d like or expect to see from others on Saturday… but he’s bound to be rusty as hell and that will expose his relative weaknesses, of which lack of mobility is the main one in my view. My jury is out, but isn’t the jury out for most things that are new? So long as there’s good will behind it..,
