I was there too (I think I’ve reminisced here before about one of the goals coming when Carl Tiler mis-hoofed a clearance that span back to the goalie and the ref gave them a free kick for a “back pass”), but I don’t recall thinking we had looked as though we might escape relegation. Indeed, I remember the gallows humour was in full flow with chants of “Che sera sera, whatever will be will be, we’re going to Grimsby, che sera sera”…
We hit a decent little run after Christmas (including a 0-0 draw at Liverpool) and I thought we might escape.

The Everton game suggested otherwise though.

We'd won five games since the start of the year to, briefly, drag us out of the bottom three only to lose at City, bring in Big Bad Bob just before Everton and turn back into the rubbish we'd been in the Autumn.

I bet he can still ping a ball with that magic left foot. I suspect it might not take too long to earn the players’ respect in training.

Woany was the only player I can think of to score directly from a corner. He did it twice if my memory is correct. Once against QPR I think. Can’t remember who the other one was against. I need Cloughie1975 to help my fading memory!!

I want to say Norwich, or Wimbledon.

I know I was at one of the games it happened, but my memory for this kind of thing is awful.

Norwich - in ’94 - was Bohinen, and a firecracker of a set-piece it was too. I can’t remember any other Forest goal that came directly from a corner during Woan’s time, and I’m fairly convinced there wasn’t. Would be great to hear any evidence to the contrary.

I can’t recall Woan scoring for Forest direct from a corner,Mark-but he was a good crosser of the ball so it
wasn’t out of the question.

Bohinen definitely scored direct from one in 1994 against Norwich as Costanillas says above (I remember it being very wet that day and thought the game might get called off)

Think Lars did against Birmingham City at St Andrews. Was one of his very early games for us.

I think he nearly scored from one against Wimbledon in that promotion season in 94, memory tells me the keeper tipped it onto the post and Roy slid into score.
Also recall him missing a sitter against someone early doors that season after it had been rolled across to him and getting a load of stick.
Am I remembering right that he sort of turned into a ball playing centre mid towards the end with us after a bad injury under Platt briefly?

Remember it very well. Me and a mate were over from Norway, staying i London and went up to Nottingham by train to watch this game only to find out that the last train back to London went before the game ended. Managed to get a room on the second floor of the pub on the corner just outside the train station. It was my fourth trip over to watch Forest and my first win! A few days later we were back and I got my second win, 1-0 againt Palace. Goal scored by Gary Bull!! …if my memory is right.

Woany clearly had his best days before Platt arrived and was sadly no longer a force when we got relegated in 1999.

I have a memory of Kingsley black scoring from a corner. Brain might have made that one up though
