He has officially signed!!

Hope it works out for Turner, not seen anything really of him so I can’t say much about it till I see him play (Sat??). Don’t like the fact he hasn’t played competitive football for 2 years, still relatively inexperienced so he will have it all to prove, but seems to have been involved Internationally so must be highly thought of up there in Jockland, plus apparently he did well for Sheff Wed! He needs to settle in very quickly, and improve the confidence in defence, has he got the tools to do that, as I said roll on Sat!

And still pray we get Harewood. IMO they are both the last throw of the dice, will they be good enough to keep us up?

I'm deeply unimpressed by this.

Who did you expect? We've done well to even bring a Premiership player on loan here for a big relegation scrap. Says something about the guys character. We need someone full of confidence, this could be a massive signing.

From an Everton fan on 606...

He has outstanding reflexes and is tall, which makes him a great shot stopper. But his ability to catch crosses is lacking and he can't command his defence. At least he hasn't been able to when I've seen him.

Haven't we been here before? :D

Sounds like he'll fit right in.

The nobhead fans won't even have to find anything new to complain about ...

Did the board get a list of available keepers, pin it on the door and throw a dart at it to see who to go for?

Decent keeper. Smith will be cleaning his boots next year.

Surely that goes for any player, I don't think there's a distinction there with Smith.

There is because he said it publicly about Smith and not about other players in competition with other players bought in on loan. Smith pre and post Camp was a different keeperand has slipped again of late, this is not a dig at Smith merely an observation, my personal opinion, so lets not go down that pro or anti Smith road again for gods sake. Two decent keepers competing for one place is good for them and good for the club, end of as far as I am concerned.

Competition for places helps all over, but I think it is different with keepers when it comes to competition. If you are a striker/defender/mildfielder if you haven't been playing well and get dropped it's slightly easier to get back in to the squad as there's more places to play for and so the chances to return to the squad are larger. There's one keeper (naturally) so the fight to hold/gain that position becomes a lot more fierce. You have to be more on your toes if you have a decent keeper itching to play on the bench because if you lose your place then it could potentially mean you've lost it for the rest of the season.

Telling us something we already know, but very true all the same.He will play the final 7 games I reckon with a view to permantly signing if we stay up and the two will fight it out next season. Let's see him play first before any rash judgements are made.

I get the feeling Paul Smith has played his last game for the club.

GOOD!!!!!

Turner is pretty much unknown to me but he cant be any worse than Smith is at the minute....pluss he's never let a goal in whilst playing for a championship club.

I love fans who are quite happy to stick the knife in Smith and twist it even if they haven't heard of the player bout to replace him. Arguments like this are so weak. Whilst I admit something needs to change, Smith deserves more than "I'd rather have X or Y in goal regardless of ability."
