I really don't want to moan but...

Why have we signed someone who plays in the position where we have the fiercest competition anyway?
We have Cohen, Mcgugan, Moussi coming back, Perch the captain.
I would say central midfield is literally our strongest position.
We need a keeper (even if you rate Smith we need cover, please dont make this another paul smith thread)
We need a full back or two
A striker would be nice.

What we don't need is a centre midfielder.
Its better than nothing, but should hardly have been a priority!

Agree, does seem odd. I imagine he isn't the only player Davies is pursuing.

Maybe he wants to move players about,

Like perch at RB
Cohen at left back

Just a thought

I personally think it is to keep us quiet. I do hope he gets some game time though, impresses and wants to sign for us.

Davies is more than likely looking at other players to you know :)

Derby performance the weekend before last would suggest otherwise.

OK Moussi has come back since, but I'm happy we're bolstering up in this area

If anything, I'd say we need (at least) one of everything.

But when hasn't this been the case in the last god knows how many years?

any more news on lita caps?

Nothing since I was told we're looking at him. That is all.

Some quarters suggesting he may come into the Reading first team with them struggling to score.

But Coppell after we destroyed them :)wink:) said Leroy had done little in the games he's played to suggest he should be starting games.

danke

Cohen is versatile but wasted as a holding midfielder, McGugan isn't a holding midfielder, Perch is suspended (and blows hot and cold) and Moussi has just come back from a long injury, rushing him into frequent full games could cause problems. While I agree that we need a forward and defenders more, the holding role in midfield also needed attention.

No wonder my post count..

I seriously hope that is not the reason.

Agree with all of that. This is a pivotal position and Moussi will not be fully fit for weeks. I have been wanting this position to be filled for ages so I am happy.

A striker would be nice now though.

i agree to a certain extent but its a start, competition for places has to be a good thing.

what we really need as a minimum is a striker a keeper and a left back

You might get your wish on the first two.

- Moussi is unfit
- we need the competition
- we may elect for a 5 man midfield
- a blind horse knows full well perch is an inadequate player in central midfield, and is culpable for us struggling this year and previous years. His position is right back where his defensive qualities and athleticism can be properly used, but where his lack of creativity will not cost us. He's not a captain either.
- Osbourne may be better than all the players we have right now in there.

Plenty of reaons for getting him in!

I couldn't agree more.

Perch - Not good enough.
Moussi - Unlikely to be able to play 12 games in 2 months after such a long lay off.
Cohen - Has played on the left a lot.
McGugan - Prone to dips in form, with 'Ozzy' coming in we can drop him the next time he 'dips'.

I was thinking just the same.

Therefore my fingers are firmly crossed that this is 'just the start.'

Anyway, lets go talk about paul Smith some more..... lol

I agree in some respects but look at the competition now. Defensively Perch can be another altenative at right back without being required in the middle barely ever and in midfield we now have one of the biggest head aches in terms of selecting the 2 or 3 central midfield players.

One thing I have noticed is he is 21 and has only made 6 starts not really the expierenced player I think we need!
