Hello folks hope all is well with everyone?...Just like to say recently my wife and I lost our baby very late on in the pregnancy which as you can imagine made life quite hard at the moment but slowly but surely were getting there and looking to the future, so things of a football nature have been put very much on the back burner so i haven't been to any games and not been on-line much to gather views on performances, lineups etc...so just wondering if you could bring me upto speed with things, I know it's abit general but interested in who's been our better performers what Billy boy has been doing good/bad, crowd attendances/atmosphere and views on the outlook for the rest of the season.
Good to be back, even better when i get back to the good ole city ground :)

cheers

That's some difficult stuff you're going through. All the very best with it..

...anyway, There's a growing sense of optimism round the place because now were a bugger to beat and more then capable of nicking a result. Billy has given us a certain steel. It's often not pretty but gets points on the board. The crowds...well, a bunch of naysayers and the eternal optimists...like always. :)

Hope things pick up for you soon chap. :)

Thanks for your kind words :) yes it's been very hard and I must say has made me realise how precious life is, I was still in somewhat of a dream world about it all beforehand but recent events have made me realise how much I wanted a family and still do, I go into the nursery which is beautiful everyday and think what if but it has also been a great source of encouragement to my wife and I and hopefully the future brings us our wishes.
I'm sorry for the somewhat depressing thread but appreciate your kind words and i'll pass them on to Yvonne. :)

From what bits i have read that's the general synopsis i gained, I felt we played well from the start (watford aside) but never had the results to show for it and now it looks like that's changing, Heard raddy is looking the business mckenna to but what about strikers? Dex looks pick of the bunch and the rest have been somewhat of a dissapointment?

Truly sorry to hear that. If coming on here and having a jovial chat about our beloved Garibaldis is a welcome distraction then glad to be of service!

We had a slow start points wise, albeit with good performances, and I think we were all scratching our heads at 6 strikers and 1 new defender.

In true football fashion though 3 wins on the spin and we've all forgotten about that, for now :D

Raddy Majewski looks a real find and Paul McKenna is giving us the grit and quality we've needed in midfield for manys the year :)

Very sorry to hear that mate, that kinda news always puts things into perspective and makes you realise football isn't the be all and end all, it pales in significance. I'm sure everyones thoughts on here are with you and your wife and I genuinely hope the two of you are back on your feet soon.

Moving on to Forest though and theres plenty to be positive about, billy has us playing as a very compact and organised team, we're a very much different prospect from last season. We've made ourselves a difficult team to beat, especially away from home, our play is much more disciplined and we now seem capable of sticking to our game plan and grinding out results. No longer do you get that feeling that we could capitulate at any given moment. Thats not to say that the footballs not been good, by and large its been pretty decent when we get it down and play it which is becoming more frequent as the season go's on.

Theres plenty of players you could single out for praise as it has been very much a team effort, my personal highlights though have been Majewski & Mckenna in the middle of the park adding the bit of steel and craft in midfield that has been missing from Forest in recent years.
Tyson has been a revelation down the left, something he's showed in flashes previously but now seems to be finding his feet as a winger.
And last but not least Blackstock has been immense up front, growing in stature with every game, he adds so much to the shape of our team and has chipped in with an impressive goal haul.

Attendences at home have been decent, and our away following continues to do the club proud. Regards the atmosphere its improving, 3 years in league 1 has taken its toll but gradually you get the sense that a bit of positivity is creeping back in to the home support. Yes there are still the occaisional groans when the opposition frustrate us and the crowd still can fall a bit flat sometimes, but its improving and BD seems pretty determined to get that feel good factor at the CG. All in all the futures bright, the futures red!

Mate, so sorry to hear. All my best to you and the missus and I hope the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to show.

Billy gave an interview and said how hard Dex is making it to rotate him because of how well he leads the line ! He really is surprising me at how well he is doing. In a promotion season he could easily be the 20 - 30 goal striker with the right partner.

Although I'm a bit disappointed with Earnie's form, I'd love to see him and Dex given a long shot together.

Ando is another one. After admitting he struggled to settle in early on, he has really set the wings on fire with recent performances. If Pearce has been watching the side, an U21 call up may not be far off !

Thanks alot for all your thoughts football and life wise it is appreciated and the overall feeling I get about the club at present is a positive one, seems billy has done his homework this summer and it is now paying dividends...Its amazing how a few weeks ago we were down the bottom usual doom & gloom then i read tyson talking automatic promotion! now that is way to far but i feel a play-off spot is realistic?.
Once again thanks for your comments and summaries hope to see you soon down at the globe & city ground.

cheers

Nothing much has changed - 3 weeks ago people were calling for the manager to be hung drawn and quartered, now he's everyones favourite son. Oh and the best player in the world is a bloke called majewski.

Hey Doggboy,

My opinion, is that Paul Mckenna and Billy Davies are singled handedly the best things that happened to our club.
Even if this season isn't as successful in terms of where we finish (and by that I mean outside of the play-offs), we will still have gained so much from them. - Stuff other clubs have practically adopted as common nature (e.g. How to see a game out, how to put results and performances together, A winning mentality firmly installed) that has somehow evaded us for far to long.

Ha ha that pretty much summed it up there hey? i like your simplicity mate ;D but in your statement is the truth really, us as forest fans can be a fickle bunch at times but big things are beginning to happen I believed, We should all get right behind billy and the team for the rest of the season (Well I know everyone on here will anyway).
I'm really excited about getting back to the city ground now...Got to wait a while though as cos of the international break and i'm going to take Yvonne away for the weekend of the newcastle game.

Minehas been a bit longer than normal and looks less sort of tired and droopy. I think this is due to my new diet and sober outlook.
If you try the same, I'm sure you'll soon be righting all life's unfairnesses.
