I think around the £2m mark, maybe just under, he's a current England u21 international and I assume we all agree a good prospect, Chelsea have money but they're not fools, why would they give him away for less than a million, if we get him for less than £1.5m I would go as far as saying he could turn out to be one of the best signings we've made in the last years, pound for pound.
 
I think he's in a similar position to Gunter was when we loaned him, unlikely to break through but a definite talent. Add a slight premium for him being a left back - who seem to be more scarce than rocking horse shit - then a £2m ish tag is probably realistic.
 
Considering just how long it took us to bring in a LB, let alone a decent one, I hope every deliberation is being made to secure Bertie on a more permanent basis. I truly hope so although I'm sure that the same will apply with respects to only paying what a player is worth and not parting with a penny more.

I believe he has what we need to aid progression and he appears to have slotted into his position within the squad well so I would consider £1.5m money well spent.
 
Guys - just a thought on a prospective valuation of Bertrand, and why Tutts may be nearer the mark than some.

Swansea paid Chelsea 'only' £500k for Scott Sinclair, who is a similar age (21) and has similar (loan) experience, although he may have played once or twice for Chelsea (where as Bertie hasn't - yet).
 
It could depend on who they rate higher - Van Aanholt or Bertrand. Both young left backs, not really a space in the side (long term) for both, especially with Cole and Zhirkov at the club.

Although if he continues to play well, then there might be a fair bit of top flight competition.

I think it will take a few million to get him but i can actually see chelsea being willing to listen to offers because they have van aanholt who they rate highly. Id be very happy if we make bertrand a permanent signing.

If Chelsea manage the title again this season, I doubt he'll want to wait another year to get ahead of the other 3 choices. If we offer Ancelotti some eyebrow tweezers, he's ours.
 
Can't see him costing more than £2m to be honest. Most likely would be a £1.5m deal with promotion add-ons etc.

Going to cost us about 2.5 mil I think- plenty of other clubs will be in for him as well driving price up- sadly the better he plays the more we are going to pay- lets hope chelski don't get any injuries and we get an extension until end of season!

This is the average amount of time a player at Forest takes from coming in, doing brilliantly and being heralded as 'world class', to being booed off the pitch with fans demanding a replacement.

Agree with Robbie.

A couple of important things to consider here. Who was the last 'promising' youngster at Chelsea to actually become a first team regular for them? By my reckoning, you have to go all the way back to John Terry.

The last player who came close was Scott Sinclair and they flogged him for the not entirely princely sum of £500,000, to Swansea.
