How did Blackstock get on today?

He didn't have an especially good game, but the options he gave us as a team made us alot more threatening going forward.

He tried to control a bouncing ball inside the area a few times and decided to turn the defender rather than shoot.. although one of those went to Earnie who smashed a shot at the cross bar.

Some good flicks, decent aerially.

Should've got the tap in from "that" through-box cross by McCleary.

Didn't go to the game today but he sounds like the target front man we've needed.

I appreciate we haven't the luxury of time to bed him in but I expect he'll be training hard with the squad to bring him up to speed. With Tyson's pending absence from the first team next week, he'd better pick it up and quickly.

He played well.He kept the ball when needed, linked up with Earnie. He flicked on for people, brought others into play.Could be our key man for survival.

He showed to me he could do the job he was brought in for. Our best missed chance (Earnie hitting the crossbar) was set up from him using his strength to control the ball and lay it off. I am sure he will score some aswell once he get's his chances in front of goal but I think we finally have the sort of partnership upfront we've needed all year.

Couldn't agree more. Did really well with some knock downs which got some attacking play going. With a few ore matches he will be even better, let's hope he smashes in the winner against the saints!

Sounds to me like we've got our man.

When you're drawing at home with 2 mins left and the ball's being pumped into the box you need someone with presence to make those corners and free kicks a nightmare for the opposition. A striker with ariel presence seems something we've clearly missed this season, and I'm happy to admit I never really noticed it at the start of the season.

Luckily this can play a bit too, so we're not lumbered with a Gareth Taylor type who is useful to a degree but extremly one dimensional.

He gives us an option we've not really had in a long time. A big forward who can both shoot himself but also set up. He's the player Earnie needs to get the best out of him, too.

Means we don't have to rely on Wes anymore to go upfront for the final 2 mins of a game!!!

He was better then Marlon would have been. Seriously though an ok game seemed reluctant to get shots away when given a half chance trying to make too much space or passing on the responsibility. I think he will help bring even more out of earnshaw though. Would be nice to use two wingers who could cross to him now.

Corners were a huge let down today considering we finally had a target man. Crossing ability is a major issue and has been all season. We could do with a Commons type player in the side.

do we think garner was money well spent ?, personally I think he will be gone close season ? he hasnt really taken off here and must feel like crap having a loan signing now go ahead of him in the rankings, do we think he's been given much of a chance ?

It appears Davies doesnt seem to favour him; mentioning a few times that he's young and inexperienced. I can understand him being fairly unhappy about not starting, but we only had 3 strikers including him before we brought Blackstock in. It'll depend on who Davies brings in next season and if we're still in the championship whether or not he'll stay, i reckon.

I do. BD wants 2 men for every position and JG is dying to get his chance ahead of Earnie. But that's a key thing. They're on their toes, and so are many more. We have direction. It would be nice if it clicks this year and we might make offers for loanees.

Blackstock sounded a breath of air. A touch here and there that we needed. Just someone getting on the end of things. we sound much more sorted out now and like we have a game winning plan. I hope we can sustain it and get out of the drop zone.
