Pompey ask to sell players

Ailing club keen to do business outside transfer window

Sky Sports News understands that Portsmouth have asked the Premier League if they can sell players outside the transfer window.
Pompey's crippling financial problems have been well documented this season and they handed over a statement of their affairs to the High Court on Wednesday.
Having survived a winding-up order last week, the South Coast club will return to court on 1st March to learn their fate.
At the original hearing the court heard that Portsmouth owed more than ÂŁ11.5million in unpaid taxes with representatives from HMRC informing the court that Pompey are insolvent.
Cash in

As well as looking for a new owner, it is understood that Portsmouth have now contacted the Premier League about the possibility of selling players outside the transfer window, which closed on February 1st.
They would like to cash in on some of their stars immediately and not wait until the summer in an effort to pay their bills.
Reports suggest Portsmouth would try to sell Algerian international Nadir Belhadj, midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng and defender Marc Wilson.
Such an unprecedented idea would have to be approved by both the Premier League and Fifa.
Is there anyone there we might want to nab?

Belhadj would have been useful against the Blunts, if he carries on tackling like he did against Egypt!

They shouldn't get special treatment. The transfer window has only just closed, they should have sold them then. If they want to make sales now they will have to be to the championship with a loan with a view to permenant in the summer.

Kevin Prince Boateng would be a very good signing but he has already played for Tottenham and Portsmouth this year so he's out.

Tommy Smith is good as are Steve Finnan and Hayden Mullins. None of them are world beaters though. Meh.

Wasn't the club in the process of being bought during the window? Isn't it always? I don't think players tend to get sold then.

The Hermanator is the only one I'd want for our squad.

Wages would be a big problem with any of these though.

So many names that I'd not even heard of. Do they actually exist or were 'arry and Peter Storrie making imaginary players up to claim their wages?

And they're all shite.

Distin signed for Everton in the summer.

Plus, O'Hara is only on loan from Spuds (I think)

Begovic went to stoke in the window didnt he, and kaboul went to spurs.

The one player that stands out for me is Hermann Hreidarsson. Hes always been a very good player, and has alot of experience.

I cant see alot of premier clubs wanting any of thier players really, except maybe dindane but I thought he was on loan

Brown is a nasty little **** but got some quality on the ball and would be perfect for our run in. Hughes would be a good addition to our midfield too and Smith is a brilliant player at this level

What a stupid comment,

Barcelone after Belhadj, Heriedersson is quality even if 35, Dindane, Nugent......a lot of quality in that club just a mess in the boardroom.

Take a look at Billys own words too, a player like McKenna to take pressure off him, Mullins, Brown, Diop would all be good additions to our squad and Tommy Smith would solve the left hand side of midfield/attack problem very well. Not going to happen but even so branding them shite mainly because you do not know them.........
