To be fair, the London Road terrace was making a bit of noise... you could see them all singing, (clapping, and arms in the air etc)... it's just that the noise didn't carry.

But yeah, the people sitting down were pretty quiet, and I think that's because of a lot of them were only there for the Forest.

Our fans were brilliant in the Moys End!

The best bit was when the peterborough fans started to sing "Can you hear the Forest sing?" after we had been singing throughout the first half

Is being packed in that bad though?

Surely it creates better atomosphee if we are packed in?

I didn't hear them sing at all!

There were some Posh fans in the stand next to our seated fans, who were giving our fans some grief / banter.
I bet they wish they hadn't bothered, our fans had a lot more to sing about after the winning goal went in!

And the terrace didn't seem too packed at all, not where I was anyway (central behind the goal, about 3/4 of the way back). It was nice and full, just right!

We were behind you. Didn't think it was that full either.

Right at the back of the terraces were big concrete blocks at intervals all along the back which you could stand on, cracking view but every time the ball went up in the air above the roof line you had to guess where it would come down as the wind blew it all over the place!!.....worst toilets ever!!!, how will they cope if they beat Blackburn in the league cup and draw Man U at home in the next round?

problem was no one would move after kick off so people couldnt filter down onto the terrace so those of us that where trying to get in got stuck at the top of the staircases where the entrance exit was so we saw f*** all as it was tottaly level, didnt spoil the day though as atmosphere was awesome better stewarding would of helped get people in as im sure there was plenty of space in the terrace if people actualy moved foward

There was ample room. We even changed spots at half time because I was stood next to a nutjob for the first half. Kept going on about how they were the only real forest fans cos they went to plymouth and Ipswich. They didn't stop chanting the whole time even when no one else wanted to know. He even brought a taste of the 80s back by making monkey noises at that McLean chap.

as I said there was plenty of room if people actualy bloody moved foward but people seemed unwilling to do so, so we just stayed at the back on the stairway,entrance/exit, around where the chat of f*** all we cant see f*** all started up

watching the goal on Football League show, the terrace did look full at the front. Not like packed solid, but full enough to be buzzing.

yeah it was buzzing the celebrations for the goal where bloody awesome, its just a shame alot of people wouldnt move to allow people to get in properly, end of the day it was a great day and In future If there still in the championship next season I will be going again I will just get there alot earlier to garuntee a decent place on the terrace.

Thats a problem nowadays, seating has enabled everyone to arrive later than they used to. We got in deliberately early (2.30pm) just because it was a terrace.

yeah that was the mistake I made I had planned to get there for 2pm but left the tap later than planned. I remember the days when I used to que at the turnstiles waiting for them to open in the days of the trent end, I think problem is I am now used to my cushy seat in A block that I can get to 5 mins before kick off and no longer have to que to get a decent place to see a game.

W didn't leave the Ostrich Arms in town until 14:45, and so got there a couple of minutes late.

Big mistake.

The problems were really at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th stairwells. If you turned up late, you had bugger all chance of getting onto the terrace, as it was packed around the entrance. There was plenty of room down the front, but the stewards had f**ked up by not keeping the yellow marked aisles free of supporters, creating a bottleneck at the entrances. Not good.

There were one or two parents in there with rather spooked kids, that perhaps should have known better with regards to getting in early. in addition, the stewards were panicking somewhat, as one or two concerned Reds were mentioning 'Hillsborough'. Fair point, as whilst the three far stairwells were overpacked, there was loads of room up by the 1st one.

It all sorted itself out, but they really didn't have a clue down there. Poor organisation, and overzealous/ intimediating policing did not take the shine off the day though, and I for one loved being able to dance around on the terraces to celebrate us scoring.

Terracing just needs to be safely administered, like it is in Germany, for it to be so much better than sitting.

That wasn't anything like packed compared to the way it used to be when you'd probably be lifted off your feet for sizable periods of the game!

Reds fans were ace though.

Imagine how buoyed the lads must have felt when they'd just conceded a goal only to turn around to get into position to a rousing chant of "NOTTINGHAM! NOTTINGHAM! NOTTINGHAM!"

Top marks, fans!

I seem to remember this happening at one of the away games in L1. Either Yeovil in the playoffs or Chesterfield when it rained, hailed and then was sunny.

That was Chesterfield.

Winnets is right about it being nothing like the old days, as there was plenty of room in their yesterday. However, there was plenty of room on the flanks in the Leppings Lane End in '89 but look what happened.

Back in the day, our supporters used to turn up earlier and perhaps a few Reds were a bit naive on Saturday, but the stewarding was still a f***ing joke which created a danagerous situation in a world far away from the great days of packed terracing.

The police didn't help by holding the buses back so long at the service station.

We got to the ground around 2:30 - by the time folks had got burgers/programmes and stuff it really allowed little time to get on to the terrace - and of course, many fans probably had limited experience of them.

I think the disappointing thing about the stewarding, from my 'inside' perspective, was they didn't get the right stewards in for this one. Obviously, Posh have been dealing with stewarding terraces for a very long time, and there are a lot of stewards who are very experienced in dealing with the home terrace in particular being packed. However, with the exception of the supervisor, the stewards who I saw were either - normally located in the seats, inexperienced, or 'hired help' (the orange coats are those brought in from an external agency).

In a situation where the terraces are packed, you really need stewards to be using their initiative to get people moved around before it reaches the level of impossibility it had by the time I got into the ground. That comes with experience...

I think it's the acoustics, the sound from either end doesn't really travel, having been in both ends, they both seem very loud when you're in them...
