Home grown players rule

Beckers

First Team Squad
Hi all,

From my understanding, with the introduction of the new home grown players rule, Premier League Clubs have until the end of this month (Aug) to register their 25 players containing 8 local lads..

Does that mean some very good talent could become available to the lower league clubs who have been patient so far?

I'm referring to Forest not rushing in for either Pratley or Whittingham. Maybe there are better deals that can only be finalised when players know if they are their clubs list of 25 or not?

IMHO it could account for Forests lack of transfers and be a very shrewd move indeed!

I am willing to give Forest the benefit of the doubt until this is not proven to be the case.

Correct me if i am way off the mark on the new rule though!

Alright beckers. That's a very reasoned, thoughtful idea mate. Your obviously new around ere! Lol. Could be true though, would explain why the board have been facking around, either that or quite simply the board are just facking around!

25 man rule only aplys to the league games, players not in the squad can be used in the fa cup and league cup, meaning most managers will hold on to the tallent for these games and give the league stars a rest.

I think they are waiting to see what is going to available to loan at the end of the month. Forest have the money to loan good players that can strengthen the team. Of course this puts Forest in a strong positoin when it comes to dealing with Swansea and Cardiff respectively as they can just say to them, that is what is on offer and no more, your guys are not signing contracts with you so it's either take it or get nothing when they leave at the end of the season.

Summer
plan a is: get both Pratley and Whittingham for less than £1million.

plan b, pretend to fans we tried really really really hard to get them and we now need to pull together with the squad we have until Jan.

plan c, if a premier league club will give us a player for free and pay most of/all of his wages - we can let Billy have a new player.

Jan
plan a - get both Pratley and Whittingham to sign pre-contracts.

plan b - languishing in 15th both Pratley and Whittingham no longer desire a move to Nottingham forest, therefore revert to summers plan b.

plan c - press release and fan e-mail stating that Bennett and Garner have returned to the club and these two will be like new signings. No need to spend more money as no other player in the world can improve Forest at the moment.

Players like Stephen Ireland and Craig Bellamy will go elsewhere.

A lot of the at risk players already have moved and it just leaves injured players like Hargreves, Andy Johnson and Woodgate.

You stole that from Mark Arthurs desk didn't you! lol

I think by the time the squads are announced there will be very little time to sort things out before the window closes. So rather than getting a player in for a 6 month loan we'd be limited to just 3 month emergency deals

It's just been on SSN again about Bellamy is interested in going Cardiff. I know he's a Cardiff fan and all that but what a signing he'd be in this league. I wonder whether he would think about coming to us? I know he'll prob go Spurs or somewhere and I know alot of people think he's a cock but he is one classy player. Surely worth a phonecall mate.

You can't complain about Bellamy going to Cardiff.

This, along with David James going to Bristol City (and to an extent Sol Campbell going to Clownty) is giving the smaller clubs and leagues a bigger media boost, limelight-wise.

lol

The only bit you forgot was the January plan d - Release a statement about the proposed new ground and divert attention away from transfers whilst everyone argues about that!

Ha that must have been on the 2nd page, I only got page 1/2 from his desk! lol

And also in the same breath promoting cheating as a way of getting ahead in life. ****ing disgrace if you ask me. Hi kids dont pay your bills and you can become just like Cardiff and avoid any punishment

Pah, home grown players rule? O'Doyle rules!

You don't suppose that Forest have already spoken to or been contacted by interested parties that are just waiting to see the outcome of the PL 25 man squads?
