Sometimes it's more than footballing ability, it's an outstanding character and in Toffs that's what we got.

Really love the guy, never moaned about not playing and just got on with it. Obviously his community work is something he will be remembered for and will continue with.

All the best Harry, you'll forever be regarded as one of the best characters we've had at the WFCG.

I always sensed from watching behind the scenes videos he was well respected in the group (even if not playing) and someone the younger players looked up to and could rely on for advice. Never complaining, just training hard, blending the vibe with humour, and natural leadership qualities.

Those types in the dressing room are not easy to find. A top level Championship player and a decent standard Premier League player who could always be relied upon. Great guy. Wish him well in his future endeavours.

One of those players I hope we face with another club at some point, just to see and hear the reception he would get.

The City Ground crowd doesn't always welcome returning players when they return with their new club.
I remember the way the crowd responded when Britt assimbolonga returned to us and was so psyched out he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.
And when Brennan returned with Spuds, only to be led off from the field with a nasty cut to his head...

In Britts case it was more to do with putting him off his game which seemed to work because he missed some sitters that day. BJ is generally regarded as been a great player for us. Instrumental in getting us up and keeping us up in the first year. His sale was necessary for PSR but maybe the way his dad behaved was what got peoples backs up.

Brennan got a nice reception after he left the field though! Remember a chant of 'he's one of our own' too.

Same happened with Cash when we played Villa, he got pelters from the sideline, but when subbed he got a nice round of applause.

Don't want to be too encouraging!

Same with Antonio on our PL return. He got dogs abuse during it and a good applause when he came off. McKenna had a brill game against him.

Depends on the player I think. Britt is a striker so given especially our record with that and former players tending to score against us, probably felt it was better to get into his skin. Likewise Brennan, though we got good fees for both and probably needed to sell for PSR reasons, I'm sure with Britt especially there was a fair chance which turned out to be true that he wasn't going to be the same player as before the injury.

Cash and Toff are good lads and I suppose Cash counts as one of our own even though he joined the academy when he was much older than the likes of Johnson, Yates, Worrall who have all been there since little kids. Different to the reception we gave Stan the season after he left...

Players get a good reception if they aren't a threat to us winning

If players also get visibly affected by a negative reception they get boo'd. Assombalonga only had a few boo's at the start of the game but he was having a poor game so they ramped up & by the end of the game everyone was boo'ing him because he was having a mental breakdown.

I think it has very little impact on how fondly they are remembered here. If boo'ing Johnson would have a negative impact on him i'll do it.

Yes… let’s know they are loved, but not until they have had a stinker 😎

Or Keane when he came on as sub after we'd got promoted.

Harry Who?

Seriously though he's been a good servant to the club & i wish him all the best, I also think he's got too much respect for the club and the fans to allow his Dad to sit in the away wearing the colours of his new club
I’d like to think Johnson Jnr cringed over that, just as a teenager would watching dad throw shapes to Sandstorm at a wedding disco.

Toffs a Forest legend without ever being the best player, and I think that speaks volumes.
He will always be welcomed back to the club in any capacity.

Such a humble and nice bloke, really sad to see him go and that video..... Did anyone really need that on a Monday evening 😭😭😭
