I just read this interview in the Mail with Harry Redknapp where he discusses Bale

The rumours that were flying around here that we had been offered Bale for a couple of million but the AP wouldn't pay his wages. And to think that Man City and Inter Milan wanted him in the summer.

No, the rumours were, from here anyway of a loan deal!

Vital Football were suggesting that the panel refused to pay his wages, just like they also claimed we'd signed Mills, we were signing Dawson on loan and that the whole reason for failing to sign a player in January was because a financial bod vetoed any deals against the wishes of the chairman and the manager.

Pretty much what I heard, Spurs were waiting for us to agree to the loan and put on the table what was acceptable. Bale and Harry agreed the deal but Forest never returned the call!!

Hmm, some people are quite far out here. Bale was available but only as a last minute thing, Harry wanted to see how he got on covering for Assou-Ekotto, sadly very well.

Wrong!!

Bale at the time was out of Favour at Spurs, Harry did not want him, he wanted someone else. In the end Harry was forced to play him and subsequently realised what a damn good player he was.

Bale from what I have read/heard around here was a bit of a big time charlie and needed to grow up, (direct quote from H.R.) and was trying the patience of the spurs squad. Bale chose to prove himself in training and reserves but to his fustration was not getting a look in. He was told to go on loan to prove himself, which is around the time the Forest rumours came up. We could never agree a deal with Spuds, but due to a certain number of injuries Bale was forced back into the squad. (bearing in mind Harry did all he could not to play him) and as they say the rest is history...

Let's just say the Spurs board are fully aware of HR's financial credentials at previous clubs and have closed the cheque book.. He has to make do with what he has and balance the books in the summer...

I fully expect Bale to go to either Chelsea, Man Utd or Man City in the summer for big money...
