Gunter's temprament.

Having resd the interview in the NEP with Gary Johnson, I got the impression that the Maynard attack on Gunter was pre-meditated. Anyone that watches Forest on a regular basis will know that Gunter is passionate.

If I'm correct and the 'thuggish' sides will make an attempt to wind him up, will he have the presence of mind not to avoid becoming embroiled in a tit-for-tat and getting himself sent off?

I have no problem with players showing passion and a bit of aggression, but I have started to get a bit annoyed at the way Gunter charges 20-30 yards to remonstrate with someone whenever there's a minor incident.

I understand his reaction at Palace because of what happened to Anderson, but it isn't the first time he's done it, and I doubt it'll be the last.

He'll end up getting himself sent off if he keeps charging at people and pushing them about.

I think its a strange one because after the challange on him at Cardiff he went to great efforts to get away from the situation and got up straight away and walked away. I also think on saturday he didnt rise to it too much. Its normally when someone else has been hit that he gets so aggro, maybe billy has asked him to play the part of a senior player due to his experiences at Tottenham. I know he is young but he probably has alot more experience than most in this division

Gunter is still a young lad who has a huge hunger for the game & a point to prove to one or two people. Under Billy's guidance he'll learn to control it better but I would rather see a player walk for showing passion any day over one who get two yellows for mouthing off at the ref.

I'm sure Billy would've told him not to react to any of the treatment he was going to get from Cardiff and their fans. They could've kicked him all game but the one time he kicked back the ref would pounce on it!

Personally I like Gunter showing a little passion - it makes a change that we now have another three vocal players in Gunts, McKenna and Camp. And I do agree that the assault on him was in retaliation for last season, but these things happen.

Personally I like it. It shows a commitment to the cause, passion and unity within the group.

He only seems to get fired up when one of his team-mates is fouled or bullied.

As long as he doesnt start moaning about every decision, like Savage, it's okay in my book.

No, nothing like Savage.

Savage chases the ref around and is a generally unsavoury character, whereas young Gunter chases down players to have a go.

Sometimes it's fully justified and other times, I think it's a bit over the top. I love that he shows passion, but I think he'll get into trouble if he's not careful.

He does need to be careful. Getting a booking at an early stage for showing his passion put's him one mis-timed tackle from a red card.

He's young though, and shows signs of knowing when to control his temper - which will lead him to being a better player.

He's a feisty one is Gunter.

Many occasions this season I've seen him make tracks to the referee to - er - yell at him about a foul on one of our players, or to advise the ref on how generally shit the ref is...

Thankfully McKenna is usually on the case to shoo him away before he talks himself into the book again.

If that anger and passion can be channeled exclusively into playing the game, he can be one of the top players as he gets a little older.

I think he could learn a thing or 2 from Garner. f*** me he is funny to watch off the ball. I don't know how he gets away with it ! Before free kicks he tickles players under the armpits, he pushed the lad with dreadlocks in the head for a corner after several numerous fouls and at one point I'm 90% sure he stuck his finger in a Brizzle player's ear ! A total wind up merchant ! So I suppose we can't really complain !

It's been surprising to see Gunter get so wound up on the pitch. In interviews he sound like a little choirboy from the Valleys.

Gunter's enthusiasm and passion for the game and, ultimately victory is rarely matched by other players.

BCity knew what he was like and went out to get him from the 1st second (literally), which resulted in him being as quiet as a mouse for the rest of the game.

That was his worst performance of the season, and the reason for it was Maynard's challenge.

Hes the only player we have of that ilk.

He played a major role keeping us up last year with his dirtiness. Its been ages since we've had someone like that. I was sick of seeing it happen to Forest. I love how when he is trying to usher the ball out, he will always go over and get the free kick.

He is an intelligent player and knows how to use the referee. I wouldn't like to see him discouraged from doing this by anybody. Either way, I think its one of the main reasons Billy likes him. Obviously, hes a really good player to boot.

That might not be a terrible shout actually!

I imagine they were more than a bit peeved at that incident, although I say stuff 'em - we were fighting for our lives and if the ref saw anything he didn't agree with then he would've called it. The real problem was not Gunter charging it down (although that is what they will say), it was their left-back (McAllister I believe) hauling him down in a pretty blatent manner afterwards.

Garner is the type of player who knows how to win free-kicks, and to do it against different types of opposition. Love him in your team, but to play against is an absolute nightmare

I swear he also did a Vinnie Joneseque squeeze on Sno as well. Did anyone actually tell Sno that they thought Informer was shite?

Most teams have a number of players who will remonstrate with the ref if they are angered. And personally I think there's something in it.

There have been obvious fouls in the box where we could have got penalties, but the crowd just keeps quiet, no players appeal for it... so we don't get them. Other teams with loud support, louder players get them.

I get it in my football teams too. Only I bother appealing for fouls. Nothing wrong with asking the question is there? Same with Forest. Our players our very quiet other than Gunter and occasionally Garner and Anderson. So Gunter looks like a 'moaner'.

In fact, a Forest player made a foul and there was 4 or 5 Bristol City players around the ref to complain in an instant.

Why do you think Clint Hill didn't get sent off for Palace against us? Because the whole Palace team and staff piled in and influenced the ref, where as there was a couple of Forest staff jump off the bench, Gunter going mad and that's about it.

Of course, there is a line... but if you don't ask, you don't get.

I don't want moaners. I don't want players dashing all over the field to remonstrate with the ref (however c--p they are). I don't want us diving like Savage at any opportunity. We shouldn't need to. Most Refs are swayed the other way and we end up with our players getting into trouble. Garner is a case in point - he costantly hassles the opposition but his bookings are often 'cheap', gained from giving the ref some unwelcome lip. Gunter has potential - he should let his boots do his talking for him.

easy fellas... Gunter was top draw against Palace...did anyone see that cnut Victor Moses trip him?....against Cardiff he was lifted in the 2nd half after he cleared the ball...again he didnt react...what would the likes of Bennett have done?...we would have been playing with 10 men....
