todays news of thw orld has him saying he wants to come back,<because he loved every minute of being here>turned the thieving geordies down.
 
undoubtedly,he can only get better with age,we could have 3 good years then sell him on at a profit

At this stage I think not. But give it a few years he could easily be worth that. I think with the fact that Spurs now have 3 or 4 quality full backs Gunter is unlikely at getting first team oppurtunities I can't see him being picked ahead of the likes of Corluka, Hutton and Chimbonda. I think if we were to buy then we could negotiate the price down but it depends entirely on interest being shown from other clubs.

I think a loan move would suit all concerned.

Yeah, I guess he is!
If we have to splash the cash for him, we might as well. As he has great ability and very good full back, and still being young, he can only improve.

I can't see us spending 3 million on a full back to be honest, we should not go any higher than £2 million, failing that, get him in on loan.

We need so spend money wisely on all areas of the team and I cannot see us spending more than 6-7 million in total.

I completely agree with you though. But the point remains, I'm fairly sure that we can afford him.
 
After speaking to a chap today who has a friend in a reasonable position with Forest, he said that about 8 deals are done with BDs targets apart from Blackstock and Osbourne, where the stumbling block are the £6k a week wage demands

I'd probably give Blackstock that, given what Earnie's on, I'd say it's not too far from fair enough. Not too bothered about Osbourne, I'd like to bring Mckenna and some experience.
 
Great player, but £3m for a fullback at this level is a bit much.

yes it is , however he could get in several prem sides and he WANTS to come and play for us .....we have to go get him!

£3m Would be worth every penny, if you considder that in maybe 2 seasons we could be in the Prem, and that £3m would have been a bargain, £3m for a player in the prem is a good deal now, nevermind in a couple of years time.
 
If Hull are spending £6 million on Frazier Campbell then I think £3 million is a fair price for Gunter.And he is British :wink:
 
Gunter has come out and said several times how much he enjoyed it here and wants to come back. You don't see that very often. Maybe he already knows something?

If we have deals 'done' I don't understand why none of them are being confirmed by the club. Only the Adebola signing seems to be a done deal and even that hasn't been confirmed. I cannot see that the fact he is still offically a City player can make any difference. Commons went to Derby which I'm sure was announced while he was still contracted to Forest. :wacko:
 
I don't think there is an issue with affording the price tag. I would say with the chairmans backing we can easily be the biggest spenders in the league. I think we were up there last year and the fact we spent 2.65 mil on Earnie last year shows that figure shouldn't be an issue.

I think it is more to do with risk. I mean he is a good quality full back but when we could bring someone with say more expierence in at a cheaper price is it worth it. I would say he isn't worth that value at the moment but Spurs don't need to lower the price for money. I think we should look at a loan move.

a bloke on forest vital is adamant that we have already signed 4 player's but if so then i can't understand why nothing has been announced , seem's highly unusual to me and i'll take it as gospel when i see it on the os.
 
I think we have already signed twelve players but no one knows about it yet.

Ditto but only four done deals, Gunter is a huge doubt, due to the increased demands being made by Tottenham, they are in a different financial world to us and at the moment the two sides are far apart.

Anderson deal remains up in the air. I do think that Blackstock will be a Forest player but Osbourne will be back at Villa
