Gunter Signing for £2M

I guess Don would have been one of JK's sexy signings.

Signing Don Hutchinson would have been about as sexy as watching as watching an OAP taking off her Kagool at Skeggy.

Did Bobo Balde not turn up to a training camp or something similar too? And didn't the NEP tell us we'd also signed Hartson at point too?

It was Didier Agathe, not Balde who was recommended by Neil Lennon then never showed.

The Hartson thing was in one of the national's I think, not the NEP. The NEP ran with the 'Crowe signs' headline, only for him to extend his contract at Northampton that afternoon. Although someone at the NEP told me that forest pulled out of that deal very late on.

soooo hope this is true if we get him its a brillant signing and proves forest are moving in the right direction

That's the fella, Agathe. Knew it was something Celtic related. Didn't Villa offer him a trail at some point? Where's he at now.

He was at Villa, they released him and we offered him a trial.

According to Wiki, he's back playing in Réunion, where he was born.

Got to say, whatever your thoughts on the "Transfer Panel" are they've come up trumps again.

This is a fantastic signing, and gives us strength in the area of the team that needed reinforcement.

Brilliant - roll on August the 8th!

Of course they have.

Why anyone would have anything other than support and excitement for what they're doing has always been beyond me, and I'm feeling utterly vindicated right about now.

I agree that they do wonders during the summer (coincidentally the same time season tickets are being sold) but they never seem to do as well in January which has left us struggling to get through on the cheap.

I predict they won't do very well this coming January either...although in this case it's because we've already got all our targets in the summer...

That's a really good point, however with proper preparation in the summer it should ease the pressure on January.

Although having said that, promising though our potential squad is looking, it's only a few injuries away from looking very threadbare again so it's likely come january we will be looking for somebody or somebodies.

The acquisitions panel need to deliver this time.

Nope, never agreed with that one either.

'You want £1m for Camp? Sod that. We'll loan Turner instead and buy him in 6 months time for peanuts'

That January window is guilty of nothing other than shrewdly making loan signings instead of paying silly money. In the end our shrewd loan signings kept us up not by the skin of our teeth, but rather comfortably. How this can be deemed a failure again I just don't understand.

The failure was last summer when we failed to strengthen sufficiently.

Thing is the January window is usually used to fill small holes to help until the end of the season, not usually the time for big name transfers...

This is a coup of a signing.
Didn't think we would get him, from other interest. I think Gunter, could easily play for another premierleague team.
