Great win..strange second half?

What a great win and it looks like the crowd were rocking just a bloody shame i couldn't make it...Few things though

1: Our performance in each half were so different it was untrue...first half we were by far the better team, should've been 2 up going in and looked like the team that had dropped out of the prem but the change in the second half was bizarre yes the toon had to up there game but why we dropped so deep and played like that was beyond me, was that inexperience of the team or did billy change the tactics? but credit where credit is due our defence held strong and although pressure and possession of Newcastle was ridiculous at times i don't think they ever truly looked like scoring.

2. I for the life of me can't pick a best starting 11 at present as there has been some great performances of late..and some not so good, The moose was immense last night where the game seemed to bypass recent hero raddy...so picking a starting 11 is going to be tough for Billy (good problem to have though)

3. Crowd seemed great...top atmosphere and really helped the team i think so well done all who went along, can't wait to get back to the CG.

4. What about our expectations now then? I for one am still only looking at top half finish but the media and fans are bound to get excited and be talking about promotion and so on i just hope that doesn't affect our season.

All in all a very good win that poses a few questions and i feel proud to be a red fan and the positivity around the club at the moment is a great feeling...I can feel some good times coming again.

Have a good Sunday all and i'll see you soon down the Globe & City Ground

cheers ;D rob

We did have patches of very good passing play in the second half though. We knew Newcastle would come out fighting and rather than playing our more 'fluent' style of football where we could get broken down so easily if they attavked us, we defended well and hit them on the counter.

A good call by Billy I think, and a call that got us the result, not to mention we could of had a goal or two in the second half !

If we did that in League 1 Colin Calderwood would have been in his element.

BD will secretly be very happy that Nottingham Forest beat Newcastle, but there was flaws and he pointed them out, and the player will work on the and improve even more.

second half, the defence were brilliant, did you note how many men we had behind the ball when they were in our half, looked like a Cloughie side at times.

Great win and its four on the trot

great result.

for me,they're worryingly high up the table.

my promise of free blow jobs if we get promoted will have to be downgraded to hand jobs i'm afraid. :D

Can't agree with point 2. Sorry I've already posted somewhere else on the matter but Raddy is that type of player. He created the goal and some of his misplaced passes were made to look bad because our players stopped! He's class and we need to forgive the odd strange thing that happens. Rooney always does something bizarre at least once in a match but makes up for it because for the most part it pays off. I'm not in anyway comparing the 2 players ability but they both have that creative football mind which once in a while can leave them looking stupid. I just hope the day never comes that he gets booed. If it came to that I wouldn't blame him at all for leaving for prem team in Jan!

I was actually pretty disappointed with how much punting up field to nobody we did in the second half, especially after a first half that was the best I've seen the reds play in years. There's nothing wrong with going long to create time but we didn't hit anybody, the ball always came straight back, other teams would have punished us for this.

No don't get me wrong i love raddy i think he's been a revelation this year was just saying he had a poor game yesterday but he'd still be one of the first names on my starting line-up every week..I was just stating in general that i don't know our best starting 11 at the moment but that is a good problem as it shows our squads depth.
Also for all there possession in spells i thought newcastle looked pretty average? think they may have had there good start due to there big club reputation and clubs have showed to much respect but we took the game to them and it payed off.
well done lads great game ;D

I was also surprised at how bad newcastle were in the first half. After about 25 minutes they had a little spell and I thought this is it now. But it only lasted about 5 minutes :D
The second half was very much like the D*rby game. Sitting too deep and panicking. The boys did well but on another day we'll draw games like that. I know we won so it doesn't really matter but I would prefer a 2 goal cushion before we start to close game out. Saying that, its worked for the last 4 games so what do I know :D

For me on the Raddy subject he was part of a game plan to run Newcastle into the ground in the first half, as with the whole team. It did come at a price as it did burn him out, but again i felt this was Billy's game plan.
