No wonder my post count..
From that old supercalifragilisticexpialimotherfuckingdexterbloodyblackstockidoceous, http://www.football-rumours.co.uk

"Nicky Shorey to join Forest to solve their left back problem. Probably on an initial loan deal, although an offer of £2.5M may seal a permanent move."

It would be possible as he is surplus to requirements at Villa (Even though there squad is thin)

Would be an excellent addition, when he was reading he musted have created 15 goals plus.

Wasnt he also tipped for England!!

Sign him up!!

Apparently it's not so far fetched.

I work with a Villa supporter and he said that he's heard the rumours of this also and that he might be on his way out should Villa get Warnock from Blackburn.

If we were struggling to pay for Mills (supposedly) how the hell are we going to pay for Shorey?

Especially if you are to believe all the stories that are floating about on what Forest supposedly offered Donny for Mills, then i find this particular rumour a non starter!

I cannot see the Forest transfer panel/board paying that sort of money for Shorey, especially after the way they cocked up the Mills transfer!

Personally i would love us to be able to get Shorey in, but he will be on Prem wages at Villa and Forest wont want to pay that sort of money on his wages, i just think we are linked with names that others are knocking out, and i cannot see him coming here!

Can't really be sure it was their fault. Mills might not have fancied Forest, the Donny chairman might have been a tit, the transfer committee might have been right not to pay over (what they consider to be) the odds for him?

He would be a quality signing that, I'm sure, quite a few Forest fans would like to see happen.

But I doubt he'd drop back down to the Championship. ::)

We weren't struggling to pay for Mills, we set a value at what he was worth and chose not to spend more than that on him.

Nice to see it didn't take long for complaints about the acquisitions panel to start behind this summer.

Would love it if we did.

I dont think this classes as a GPR, as he is quite a good Left Back.

Also we could afford most players and most wages, Dont think our club "cant afford anyone", because we are one of the most financially able clubs in the division, aside from QPR, but Doughty has to be the most competant chairman in the division.

Sorry to resurrect this (kind of) but I've been on holiday.

Firstly, I went to Uni with a guy who supported Villa and he has also spoken to me about this, so I'm inclined to believe there is something in it.

Regarding the price and the Mills debacle, it wasn't the actual amount that was the stumbling block, it was the fact that our valuation did not meet Donny's price tag, among other factors. We will spend £2.5m plus on a player - Earnshaw, anyone? - but only if we deem it an appropriate valuation for that player.

I personally think Shorey would be a great acquisition for us and would love to see him at the club.

shorey would be a great signing , i saw someone mention gareth bale on loan somewhere but he's being strongly linked with a move to milan ............why on earth would he go to milan when he could come to forest :-*

He would be able to get a struggling premiership club quite easily and would only drop down back to the championship to rejoin Reading. No chance here

Did not get picked up by a Prem Club last season when he was not in Villa team and no Championship Club has been linked except us so.............

Think this transfer fell through to Portsmouth. If O'Neill still has no plans for him in next couple of weeks he can't offload to a Prem club.. Just a thought

He wants first team football,O'Neil can't offer that to him,he is a left back and will be avaliable on loan to championship clubs next week.I will be unhappy if we don't at least enquire.

Aston Villa star set to join West Brom on loan
Published 20:26 05/09/09 By Ralph Ellis

West Brom are poised to rescue former England defender Nicky Shorey from another season in the Aston Villa wilderness.

Shorey, 28, faces playing second fiddle to £8million signing Stephen Warnock and is desperate for regular first-team football.

Albion were alerted after a deadline-day loan move to Portsmouth broke down because boss Paul Hart wouldn’t guarantee he’d start ahead of Herman Hreidarsson.

West Brom have been using central defender Marek Cech at left-back after letting Paul Robinson move to Bolton, and want a more experienced replacement. They are likely to move as soon as the Football League’s loan window re-opens this week.

The deal would suit Villa, who want to keep Shorey on their books as an insurance against any problems in Wilfred Bouma’s recovery from a long-term ankle injury.
