Hey all just want to say howdy to everyone and hope everyone is good & well?, after some pretty tough times of late life is starting to get back on, As some of you may know my wife & i lost our first child (he was due 5th of feb :() before christmas which was gut wrenching to say the least and were still in the process of consultancy for future pregnancies and so on, But on top of that my wife lost a family member and a close family member of mine had a bad stroke over the holiday period to...so all in all end of 2009 start of 2010 has been pretty miserable to say the least but to cheer me up my wife bought me a half season ticket and i must say it worked, been good to get away from it all watching the reds! Now works easing up and my Saturday mornings are freeing up i'm hoping to get back down the globe before match days for a few beers and a natter, hope to see you all down there.
Also sorry for the depressing topic but ending with a question i posed on here awhile back this season...which was: Is this the best football we've played since Sir Brian departed? Earlier on alot of you disagreed do you still think so?, As i think we have played some pretty awesome stuff this year which has been a joy to watch.
Once again good to be back see you all soon :)

cheers

Wow Rob, really sorry to hear about the shitty time you've been having :(

To return to the question, I still can't see past Frank Clark's team, but am definitely of the view now that this side would (and indeed is doing) fare better than Paul Hart's.

I hope your fortunes pick up from now on mate ! Fingers crossed a win Saturday can kickstart a good year for you ! It's hard for me to say as I can't remember Brian's football apart from clips etc. However, it is the best football I have seen us play !

Mate - welcome back and here's to a bright future for you and the family. Tough times and memories but stay strong and use the Forest boys as a pleasant relief from the realities of 'real' life and 'real' problems. Happyness is key and nothing else matters (only Forest)

Cheers for the thoughts :) I'm torn between the Clark era and the current side to be honest...although under Harty we played some good stuff.

There wasn't enough killer edge or mixing it with Harty's side, which is why I think Billy's has the edge.

But think about a defence with Coops and Pearce in it, Bohinen in midfield, Collymore upfront. Ian Woan on the wing, Stevie Stone.

Still gives me a semi lol

The Clark/Collymore era was fun - especially when I was dancing in a Manc bar in Benidorm when Stan scored!!  ooh ooh and when he dragged the ball back past two Wolves defenders and ran half the length before slotting it home!!!

Yeah when you put it like that the Collymore upfront swings it, he was/is a complete buffoon but a bloody talented one when he wanted to be and we had him at his best I reckon?

At Molineux? During the celebrations I can be seen leaping up and down in the aisle behind him :D

Very sorry to hear that, I hope for a future tricky for you in the pipeline soon.

Anyway lets be honest, posting on forums is a pointless passtime at the best of times, so don't worry about bringing the tone down. If it's a place to vent your anger or sadness then let it all out I say!

Right, as for this being the best since Cloughie? I'd say our Prem team of '94 is pretty much nailed on as best since Cloughie. As good as Earnie is see Collymore. Raddy, see Bohinen. Blackstock see Bryan Roy. It was on a different planet at times.

This team vs Hart's team is a better comparison. This one is currently more successful, but I'm still not sure if the football is better. It's great at the moment, don't get me wrong, but Harewood in particular captivated the fans in a way I'm still not sure we're quite seeing yet. I think the league back then was probably stronger, some of the battles we had against Sheff Utd we're brilliant and it's no surprise that many of those players have gone on to have Premiership careers.

That's my favourite ever Stan goal. :)

Clarks team had genuine International talent in it. They also played in much the same unified way as this team does.

Pearce, Woan, Stone, Collymore, Cooper are all probably better than anything we have now.
