Goal Analysis

AKA Randy Bumgardener
Right, before you start goading me on starting a new thread, I have just watched (analysed if you like lol) the highlights.

Goal 1 - Chambers stooped to head the ball whilst it was mid-air. Straight into Nyatanga's chest. I don't think Nyatanga knew much about it, just hit it and it went in. Surely the basics of defending set pieces and marking your man are to dominate the attacking player and get to the ball first. Not duck out of the way like a scared cat ffs

Goal 2 - Again, Chambers isn't a small lad, so how does he let himself get pushed around so much ? He should of been standing his ground covering the ball, with the option to either head away or allow the keeper to collect ? Again basics. On his performance today I would have rather have Earnie man marking him ! Or the 5 year old ball boy !

Goal 3 - I find it hard to critisize Perchy, I watched it in slow motion and it looks like the lad is running, with Perch chasing, then he stops, Perch runs into him and knocks him down ! Isn't this one of the oldest tricks in the book that referee and linesman should be looking for ?

Earnie - for ****s sake. The team need to realise that play the ball to his feet and he will conjure something out of nothing. When the ball was passed to his feet, he was quite happy to take on 2 defenders and still get shots on target ! If he was fit he could of had 4 ! I feel for him I really do !

Nigel - Not once did he smile or celebrate any of the goals. The camera's were constantly on him and he didn't crack a smile. He almost looked disappointed during his interview !

Am I right ? It did look like we played some good football going forward, but it seems the midfield and attack are so nervous about the defence they are drawn back, resulting in domination by derby ! Tys didn't have the luxury of using his usual trick of beating the offside trap because he was so withdrawn.

I can't help but think that this may be the last we see of Luke for a good while. He seems to need to learn the basics of defending again ! He knew he was awful aswell, you could tell !

As I say, I don't want to stir up an argument but do you feel that if Moloney or Wilson were in the RB berth we may of come away with a result ? I can't ever say I have seen either of them there, so welcome comments from those who have !

Just my tuppence worth anyway !

That's right, soz just watched it again. Seems Smudge was putting Luke off by giving him a 'wet willy' for goal one and two !

I thought that was Smith too. Well, you live and learn.

Perch out!

Smith was a contributing factor but close analysis shows that because Perch lent hugh amounts to people in the USA who couldn't pay it back causing the banks to lose money....Smiths contribution to this was the collapse of Woolworths and Northern Rock.

Indeed, a number of times he was in a queue at Woolworths having forgotten to get some pick and mix. He wouldn't leave the line to go and pick up the sweeties, thus causing the collapse of the store chain.

He was so slow to distribute his sweets it didn't really make any difference anyway, and he was so quiet the cashier couldn't hear what he was saying, holding up the queue further.

Erm you said Chambers headed the ball for the first one, then said he ducked out the way? Contradiction there. Though it was a silly free kick given away, it wasn't slightly unfortunate the ball landed perfectly for the guy to half volley in.

Second one - wasn't even a free kick. The Derby player backed into Wes as Wes went to head the ball. Ref was terrible, what's new? It was a good delivery though and I'm sure it was Breckin marking Hulse and Breckin was very poor throughout the game.

Third. Well Hulse has been going down under the slightest of contact in every game, and gets away with doing it to defenders, so it's no surprise the ref obliged in him giving him what he played for, which he did throughout the game.

To be honest, I think if the ref had given us the same decisions he gave Derby, we'd have had 2 penalties. One where Wes flicked it over their player, who kicked his leg - Tyson then caught their guy as he cleared it and THAT was a foul, even though it was exactly the same... perhaps it was because the Derby player fell over! And Tyson also went to head the ball and had a defender all over him - a bit like the Perch one! Funny how we don't get them but they did.

That said, we still let in goals from set pieces/crosses. I think it's just down to them being a taller and better team in the air! They play to their strengths and we couldn't cope.

Funny, I thought their pen was as blatant as they come.

From where I was stood, sorry, sitting, it was a clear push by Perch. At that point we were in deep doo doo.

The thing on the free kick for the second goal that no one has asked as far as I can see is - how the hell was Morgan left to deal with two Derby players in that position without another red shirt within 20 yards?

I thought so too, and my view was very good of it. Sure, Hulse went to ground like a sack of spuds like he did all game, but there was definite solid contact from Perch and it was a definite penalty.

From my view in BC upper, it was a stone wall pen! He put his elbow into his back.

But I agree with the rest of your analysis.

Give the ball to Earnie, hes good, he will do something, he will probably score.

I have to give a special mention to McLeary, I know his been shit when started but he deserves another crack at it now. He was really good when he came on and was the only player to put a decent ball in the box all game. He also played with no fear, something the rest of the team couldn't do.

Whilst on McLeary me and Jonathan were wondering whether he has played a full 90 minutes since coming to the club?

He has been pretty inconsistant this season but if you aren't getting a proper run in the team consistency goes out of the window. The same goes for Aaron 'is he still at the club' Davies.

Anderson is the only winger we have who I can think has played on a consistent basis, injuries aside, and he has been one of our most influential players this season. Coincidence?

Obviously if a player has a nightmare of a game he can't expect to keep his place but on several occasions this season McLeary has done nothing wrong and harshly treated I think, for which I blame Paul Smith.

Aye, Chambers stooped for the first goal and headed it into Nyatanga's chest, resulting in a goal though ! Not really a contradiction !

Perchy's must of been missed then. Mayb the desperate act of a man losing his marker then ? lol

we might be rubbish at defending, but, what about the missed chances we had?
Earnshaw and Perch should both of scored easily

what the highlights dont show is the long ball that forest player down the right wing about 20 times before realising derby had it covered and where never going to be cuaght out by it, so we used the same ball down the left instead :D :D, when we got it on the floor we looked better, the player that hit the deck like a savek of spuds for 2nd free kick was commons btw

Perch was wrong side attacker for penalty - schoolboy mistake and he's our ****in captain

What I meant was... normally, yes it is a penalty. Every time.

But in the context of that game - no. The ref didn't give the decisions to us when Hulse blatantly pushed defenders like that, and there were some very obvious ones, so why did he give them to them?
