I'm pretty sure Billy's the only manager to have gotten anything out of him.

Worth a trial, I reckon.

He's apparently on 17k per week at derby. No wonder they got rid. He's never fit , he's more injury prone than Commons.

I can't remember much about him. All I can remember is the sheep raving about him. Would you say he's De*bys version of Mcgugan?

He used to be a decent talent. Now he's just crap, too injury prone and has a massive attitude problem. He thinks that he's 1000x the player that he actually is.

Really don't want him here at all.

Wasn't he our player in the 1st place?

He is quality, if he is over his injury problems would be a great signing, if not then leave him. When fit he is Premiership quality.

Maybe an appearance based contract?

He was a massive talent, only surpassed by the size of his ego, which is part of his problem.
On his day he was a match winner, and scored some fantastic goals. It wouldnt' surprise me to see him pop up at Birmingham. Terry westley is there and he was the academy manager while Barnes was here, and it was also him who put Brnes into the first team while he was caretaker manager. Apparently they are still in constant contact.
It's a shame he's been released as he had talent, but he's barely played in 2 and a half years since the play offs. And for a championship club to be paying someone £17K a week (thanks billy) for sitting on his arse all the time, it's not really viable.

Billy didn't sign Commons, or is Commons on more than that?

Besides, I'm sure you will have paid up a large part Barnes' '£17k a week' contract.

Take him on trial, get his injuries properly looked at then see if WE can sort him out ! Derby probably diagnosed him by smacking his knee with a tiny hammer !

Derby fans suggested Camp, Earnie and Billy would be rubbish.

I'll trust Billy's judgement over theirs 8)

Yeah that sums up all I've heard about him pretty much, I would be reluctant to say the least.

I'd be happy to take him on trial with a possible contract until the end of the season to prove his fitness.

Doubt any team would give him more than a year because of his injury problems.

He's also lost his main asset - his pace. Since he injured his knee playing Palace just before the play offs he hasn't been the same. He's recovering from a ruptured achilles tendon at the minute which won't help him at all.
To be fair, it's got to the point where it will do him some good just by moving to another club. Maybe just a change of scenery will benefit him.

Young, talented and skillfull young player - who wouldn't take a punt on a pay per play basis, he looked the only dangerous derby player against Man Utd last year and most talented over the last few seasons. Sure he is a luxury player but with our wage structure and Billy boy's man management skills he's a minimal risk almost a no brainer. Just imagine IF it did workout for the boy how much would that p*ss our neighbours freeby county off

Well he never got near the first team when he was on loan at Fulham last season, so I would dispute that.

That was because of injuries. That's why I said "when fit".
