George Boyd: Ready

Apologies for re-post, this is in danger of being lost in the other one...

Goddamit, I've been in a training course all day and was the last to know about something I should have been able to break first...

Anyway, obviously I've seen a lot of Boyd and am very excited by his signing.

Positives
Very creative and stylish player. Left-footed (which is a rarity in the forest squad) and bags of quality. Has made the step up from non-league to leagues 2, then 1 and now the Championship look very easy in a short time and was clearly the only Posh player who has looked comfortable at Championship level this year. Makes the game look so easy. Likes to play and recieve the ball to feet and can deliver excellent balls from open play and set-pieces and is prone to smacking the occasional 20-30 yard screamer into the top corner.

Negatives
Lacks pace and can be prone to drifting in and out of games, especially when the team isn't playing well. Has been used as a striker, left-sided forward, left-winger and even in a free-role this season and I don't think even he is sure of his best position.

Get in. Cracking player ! And a goalscorer. I always remember him being described as a Brazillian in Boro

I'm sure Billy will have a role thought on for him in the team. Plus the fact he can play in so many positions gives us plenty of options, which can only be a good thing.

Quite excited by this signing! Heard he's meant to be good, and it seems like Peterborough quite liked him.

He's scored quite a few this season also, even from midfield and that.

Saying all this, I was much more impressed with the signing of Kris Boyd, who I thought it was when my mate mentioned it! lol

Scored 12 from midfield playing for PETERBOROUGH at the bottom of the table.

And they called him the white Pele ha.

I am so excited to hear the news of George joining us and can't wait for the weekend. The thought of Boyd and Cohen on the left passing through and wide up to Dexter up front makes me errrrm weak at the knees. ;-)

Welcome to George and congratulations to Billy and the club for an inspirational signing that surprised us all. :)

Well done Billy Davies and well done ND for sorting out the AC

Don't forget sexy Robbie Earnshaw!

Get in Forest I hope this is the start of a few more, Good player options for both midfield and up front, and I feel he would be good in a 4-3-3 should we wish to go that way! Awesome work Forest lets hope he helps us kick on its not over yet!!!!

Thank god we got george boyd, really a terrific player, get him in the team quick, could be the difference between going up and err not going up and that

Boyd and Majewski running rings around swansea players with blackstock and earnshaw both banging in the goals when the 2 set them up.

can;t wait to see him v swansea.

Really impressed with this signing. Exactly what we needed down the left midfield. Expect Cohen to slot into left back now and Ando move over to the right of midfield - instantly we have some balance to the team again.

Hopefully the positivity regarding this signing will make its way to the dressing room too!

i am really happy with this i wanted us to look at him in jan as i really rate him and think he can improve with us thankyou forest youuuuu reeeeds

If we'd signed him in the summer at the same time as the others, I think people would have been saying he was the best signing we'd made.

To be perfectly honest, I think we're really lucky to have got him. Spurs and a couple of other Premiership sides have had a look in the past and because Posh were in a decent position having just been promoted, they have asked for somewhere between £3m and £6m, the teams have baulked at the price.

He now has a year left on his contract and they are going back down to League One so they're not really in a position where they can name their price. I think we've gone in at exactly the right time.

If we've paid £500,000 for him as a loan fee with a further £1.5m in the summer then I don't think we've got a bad deal really. In reality, I don't think we'll have paid that much but I'd imagine his final price will be in the region of £2m.

Will Boyd be eligible to play against Peterborough on 20th March or will they have written it into his contract that he sits this one out?

I wouldnt be surprised if McKenna was rested, Cohen put in CM and there you go

£1m loan fee plus £500k for promotion is a Posh-derived rumour I've heard, then something like £2m to sign.

I don't think Doughty would stump up £1m for a player for 90 days, considering the acquisiton panel's policy of never paying over the odds for a player.

£500k still seems steep but is by far the more realistic figure.

That figure may well go towards the final sale price anyway.
