its a possiblility! however i think our chance of landing mills is very slim..... he is quite clearly premiership standerd.

And the unfit one?

I think people underestimate how good a signing this might actually be. If he gets fully fit, which there's no reason why he can't, then everyone knows how good he is at championship level.

He shouldn't be judged on how he performed when he was here before. I personally think we should be a hefty transfer fee to get him.

PS

£1.5m for McShizzle and £2m for Mills? Credit crunch my arse! Cheers uncle Nige, it's not lost on this woodland mammal, that's for sure.

Couldn't agree more. It's not unrealistic that we can get him back to his best, and frankly anything near his best is excellence at this level.

Even when he was supposed to be fit, I never rated him.

I always love your fantastic optimistic outlook.

With regard to this statement, obviously football is about opinions, but this is near incomprehensible to me. Mcsheffrey was, at his best, fantastic.

If he could do what he did at Cov when he was at his previous best and looked pretty f***ing devastating, he would be immense given a free reign in our team.

£1.5 million for another crock. Will he be out for a big chunk of next season like Garner?! I'm sure this amount of money could be better spent.

:)

I respect your opinion, I just think it's wrong.

Having said that, Davies obviously rates him (even though he's got all the pace of Nicky Eaden) and he knows more than you and I put together, so I am prepared to trust in Davies' faith in this player.

Fair enough.

Davies presumably does know more than us, and I think he'll be completely justified if he brings him in.

a fully fit mcsheffery would be a great asset to forest. He is proven at championship level and will get goals. However would he be a partner for earnshaw? Isn't this why we are buying adebola and blackstock?

If we sign a fit McSheffrey then we will have made a quality signing...he was immense a few seasons back.

I understand his lack of fitness but the desparately disappointing loan spell with us has generated enough doubts in my mind that I wouldn't want us to invest a valuable £1.5M in him. If BD signs him then I'd happily be proved wrong though!

He was just offered to Coventry in return for some popcorn and unpasteurised cheese.

McSheffrey was a top talent at Coventry because they played him up the left of midfield, when he is asked to either play up front or centre midfield he looks average. If we are going to sign him then he has to be played right where he has a bit freedom to backup the front 2 from out wide.

No wonder my post count..
I suppose Billy feels confident that a Billy Davies pre season with the Sheriff will get him back to full fitness.

He never seemed to have much desire. He always seemed uninterested yet (somehow) able to score great goals from good positions without ever once giving the impression he had moved. He was a bit like a (ver) poor mans Dimitar Berbatov.

When he was briefly at Forest I was amazed at just how uninterested he looked. Also, he had all the pace of a lame mule.

I have no source/sauce for this - just a gut feeling that McSheffrey may be the Billy's 6th Striker.

Birmingham are looking to bolster their fire power, pushing McSheffrey further down the pecking order.

If he'd have wanted to go back to Coventry, then his opportunity would have been the deal that took Danns to Brum.

We know Billy rates him highly.

Thoughts anybody?

Dunno, it feels like every striker we're getting has some kind of issue with them:

Adebola - Rather old
McGoldrick - Rather young/inexperienced
McSheffrey - Persistent knee injury

I feel (cue broken record) Blackstock had no issues, he had good experience, was close to hitting his peak and is basically perfect.

Billys seen these players more than I have so I can't really comment tbh.

Think you could be right but it could depend on Mcsheffrey's attitude, didn't billy boy say something along the lines of him needing to fall back inlove with the game? If he has it wouldn't surprise me to see us getting another cut price deal for him ala Anderson could see us getting him for 500k
