It was actually the itching powder Terry Farndale put down his top.

So did he actually throw his kit to the floor, or did he just take his top off to put his subs top back on ?

Whats Billys problem with him ? Probably Garners attitude thats the problem, I've heard he is a bit of a twat from quite a few.

Thought that McCleary made a pretty decent impact when he came on.

The good player who scores goals hasn't scored one this season and the substitution was a like-for-like swap. Anderson off, McCleary on.

I realise Garner hasn't started up top, but he hasn't exactly impressed when given the chance and Billy obviously sees something in training that keeps him on the bench.

In fairness, would rather have brought on McCleary than Garner anyway. Garner hasn't impressed me at all this season, and McCleary played well, and troubled the Swansea defence.

I said it at the time, and it's worth repeating that Joe Garner's attitude at Coventry away was disgusting.

He had a pretty decent season last time around, and scored a fair number of goals taking everything into consideration. But if he wants to make a go of it at Forest, he has to give 100% even if he doesn't start in his favoured position.

Whilst he had a stint there earlier in the season, Garner ain't a right winger. And that was the position we needed to bring on. McCleary is.

Really? I thought he played well and looked quite dangerous.

i just mean in general he must think that, not just saturday in paticlular. i just feel as a striker he has proved what he can do, and i think when we were after a goal as much as i like didsy, would have been a better option.

I'd put more blame at the feet of the person playing Joe Garner, a striker, in a position where he has to even attempt to stop a cross.

Joe Garner is a striker and a very talented one. Not everybody is a James Perch or Chris Cohen and can adapt to different positions.

No wonder my post count..
Why isn't he out on loan yet? Loaned out to League One, he'd wipe the floor with everyone, drum up some interest, resulting in a nice deal at the end of the season.

He's no use to us right now, may as well make him useful to someone else.

I'm still bemused why we got rid of the reserves. Any player out of form still needs games to get their form back and where better than the ressies - that's surely what it's there for.

Training and bench warming will not get players 100% fit again after injury, nor will it show when a player is deserving a first team game after a string of good performances.

Had Garner been in the reserves (playing as an out-and-out striker) and was knocking goals in regularly is confidence would have been sky high if he was to be called up for first team duty.

We have someone like Bennett who's been out for 14 months and have to organise a friendly where we play him for 45 minutes in order to see how he's progressing. A reserve team would give him regular run outs until his match fitness improves.

It would also give the week-in week-out bench warmers the opportunity to bring their match fitness back up to something like, which training does not do.

Nail on head, Joe Garner is an out and out striker, and I think given a chance in that position would come good. Playing him elsewhere just doesn't work with this individual

Don't know if you've noticed, but we still play a fair amount of reserve games.

We scrapped the official team because the reserves league wasn't that competitive and it was tiring players for no real reason.

We play plenty of games at that level when we need to and when we want to. I think it's worked quite well...

Grant Holt - Decent enough striker at League 1 for us and scored plenty enough as centre forward. Calderwood then decided he was our left winger and turned Holt into a pile of shite.

Look at the scoring charts for League 1 and see what happens when he's played as a centre forward again.

Some people can play in a variety of positions. Some can't.

Garner has shown us all enough glimpses of his ability to tell us that something special is there. Sadly it looks very much like he'll have to prove it at another club. I'll always remember him for the goal he scored at St Mary's last season.

I rate Garner. I really do - Raved about him all last season.

Thing is, he's obviously not doing enough to be picked each week. We can all speculate as to what he's done or what he hasn't done, but Billy obviously favours others ahead of him.

He was top class for us at times last season and scored some quality goals but for some reason, that hasn't continued this season. It's a shame it just hasn't happened for him as I thought he'd certainly be a future star.

Perhaps he still will be, just somewhere else. With regards Forest, though, I'm willing to trust Billy Davies...

I tend to like JG - his work rate and his commitment is fine but he has no brains - he reminds me of Gareth Taylor who went out every match intent on picking fights and getting booked every other game.

I'm not opposed to anyone getting in the face of the opposition in order to make it hard for them but the silly niggling things he does off & on the ball generally gets him booked when there is no need for it and this may be one of the things that rankles with BD.

His first 11 games this season earned him 6 bookings and a suspension which I'm sure is just as frustrating to the gaffer as it is to all of us supporters. I've noticed on a few occasions that after 10 mins. of being booked he's been subbed for fear of being sent off.

Having said all that I hope BD can get something out of him and that he's still here next season because he is still young and I'm sure he has a lot to offer.

I think he'd do well playing off a forward like Dexter rather than play Majewski as a "supporting forward" midfielder. But then I don't see them in training and I'm not a football manager.

Totally agree with all of that. Players like garner, mccleary, mcgoldrick would benefit immensely from reserve games. Not only would they get match sharpness but their confidence would be up their. A proper competitive game perpares you for 1st team action in differents ways to just training. Confidence can totally transform a player

McCleary is gashmondo

King Billy put McCleary on the bench and brought him on when he thought we needed him, your post suggests you think you know better. Many of your posts suggest you think you would be a better manager for us than Billy. Did you apply for the job? If you're better than him you must be awesome and we need you - if not now, then soon. lol
