I live in Doncaster and the rumors doing the round is that Joe Garner is heading to Doncaster Rovers, he's keen to join for first team football, anyone heard any news?

No wonder my post count..
I'd be very sad to see him go. Bags of potential wasted unfortunately by the billy regime. I hope he goes out on loan though.

Heard nothing of it at all. I was at the Keepmoat today [I do some work for the rugby league club there], and as far as I could find out, the Doncaster Rovers management have Sharp as their number one target [no surprise there], and are looking to Eastern Europe to strengthen their defence and midfield.

I'm not sure Garner will be here next season, but from what I've heard, it may be Leeds.

I thought Doncaster couldn't afford Sharp... not sure if Leeds has any more money than Donny, but heard rumors about him going there... would make sense if they tried to sign Garner on loan for the season though, but we would be naive to sell him for any less than we bought him for, and if Donny can't afford Sharp... well, he can't be worth much more than 1.1 million?! In Mark Arthurs own words - "we don't need the money..." ;)

Sell him. He's not good enough for us and there's no point in keeping him to rot in the reserves. No pace, dodgy finishing, poor temperament.

he can't rot in the reserves because we don't have one and he is a great player when played as a striker and not on the right wing
if we sell him and hes played as a striker by another club i can see him bagging 15 - 20 goals next season

Idiot! Did you see any on his games late in the season? He is definately our 3rd striker and a very good player. Would be gutted to see him leave. He may be slow, but hes got bags of ability. I think most forest fans would have him over McGoldshit anyday!

I remember an interview with ND were he said he thought he was the best young talent we have. So at least he has one fan at the top.

He's a cracking finisher. If we let him go I hope it's just a loan until January. Then he'll come back to us at the top end of the goal scorer charts. Earnie is 30 this year. Garner is his long term replacement.

He is the only 1st team player not given a fair chance by Billy in his natural position. I can't understand it because he has bags of talent and that bit of bite that Billy likes so much in Mckenna.

When he has started he's scored. Sort it out Billy.

Garner's going nowhere, he has been told he has a future unlike Tyson who has been told he can look for another club

Well, I don't have any inside line on this, but Garner's pitch time this seasons suggests, quite simply, that Billy doesn't rate him. Without checking the stats, I'd imagine he's had far fewer opportunities than Adebola or McGoldrick, so that doesn't bode well for him.
If the powers that be think we need a 20 goals a season striker, then I think Garner will have to be sold, to fund the purchase of that striker.
Personally, I rate him, but my opinion is of no consequence.

Thankfully we don't have to sell anyone to strengthen the squad. There is £££ available, probably more than in any other club in this division (this year as well). I guess QPR will have some money to spend, don't know about Boro, but money isn't the thing we should worry about...! ;)

I'd tell doncaster to sod off, just as they did to us with matt mills.

I really hope that is true, Tyson is deadwood and should be shipped out.

I like Garner a lot, good finisher and work rate. If he can sort out his temperment and cut out many of his silly booking then I think he can be a good striker at this level.

This doesn't explain why Tyson was played for most matches at the end of last season and Garner was hardly played at all. ???

Tyson was being employed as a left winger, not a striker though.

Garners got the ability to play at this level comfortably and I do believe he could end up in the prem as well. Of our squad, in my opinion, I do believe he has the most potential of any player there.

If he does go, I'll bet that he scores at least 2 against us at their place...

...I hope he doesn't go though.

He's actually probably the second best finisher at the club, behing Earnie, shown by his couple of goals toward the end of the season, but he's been out of favour under Billy and all too often played out of position on the wing.

Thats the point, Billys thinks we got at least 2 better strikers than Garner. And perharps one more will join us! Soe where do you see any chances for Garner to get into the team? So it is better for the club to sell him and get money than let him stay and let him play into the reserves

With injuries and fatigue, I see plenty of opportunity for Garner to get in the team, especially with Dele and Nathan gone, if that happens. A lineup of Earnshaw, Blackstock, Garner, Another Bloke and McGoldrick should be plenty for the season.

With strikers, the team tends to get used to playing to the best two or three so when a minor striker comes on such as Garner or McGoldrick the shape isn't quite sitting right for them a lot of the time. We're not that adaptable a side, Blackpool proved it even when we were having our better spells against them. That'll change though, Davies likes his long breaks to get new tactics and ethos into the players, doesn't like to bother with it midseason.

Plus you have to imagine what a balanced defence and strengthenedmidfield will do for McGoldrick and Garner, let alone Earnie and Dex.

With McGoldrick in particular, he seems to be playing his own game at times, but it's not a bad one. More time to cultivate his link-up play, get others working to his strengths and he'll be more effective. He's got goals in him, just not from the positions and build-ups he's worked into at Forest last season. That said he does need, in any case, to improve this season or he's out for 150k or something in twelve months and we lick our wounds.
