Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott has revealed he is interested in bringing Joe Garner back to the club.

Abbott is now on the lookout for a new front-man after he confirmed Vincent Pericard was leaving.

Skysports.comrevealed that Pericard, who was on a short-term deal at Brunton Park after joining late last year, was leaving Cumbria.

It would be a good move on loan. I still think Joe is a very good STRIKER.

Loan him back there for the rest of the season.

I wouldn't want to sell him, too much talent to just cut our losses.

He's never going to get a run of games here, we have far better players now and sadly we will never re-coup the £1.2 million.

I think he could definitely have a future here, perhaps if Earnshaw is out for a few games he could get a chance up front with Blackstock.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go off on loan to Carlisle. He is too good a player to just sell on though, unless we get a fiendishly high price for him, which let's face it, coming from Carlisle, we're not going to get.

With the greatest of respect to Carlisle I think he's moved on a bit since being with them. I'd much rather see him on loan somewhere like Sheff Weds or Donny, Wednesday might be a very possible destination too with a new manager and no money to spend he'll want to bring in some of his own players and will most likely have to do it for the smallest cost possible which points towards loans.

I think he's play well against Tudgay and develop against a better class of defender at this level and it'd help them finish above Derby to push them down one more place, he might also deny a few of our rivals a point or two playing against them.

exactly what i was thinking , inadvertently helping us even though he's playing for another team , i'd obviously want a clause so he couldn't play against us as well .

I think he is too good a player to go back to Carlisle, except if it is only a loan

His ability has never been in doubt, it's what happens between his tabs that holds him back. I really hope he goes out on loan and regains some confidence and zest for the game, returns to Forest with all cylinders going and out to make certain he is not left on the sidelines when given his chance.

Sell him. He's not good enough to command a starting place and we could attract someone better.

We should loan him out to carlisle. He knows the place , he knows the team (well , should be a few of them left from the last time he played for them) and more importantly , their fans loved and idolised him. They could help him regain back his confidence and find his shooting boots. Think it'll benefit both sides. Garner gets played in his proper position as a striker and regain back his confidence and if he scores a lot of goals between now and the end of the season , Billy will take notice.

It worked wonders for Beckford. Leeds fans wasn't impressed by him , he gets loaned out to scunthorpe and did very well and Leeds suddenly want him back. It also worked for David Johnson , he had hit a deadend with his career at forest , he got loaned out to Burnley where he impressed , he came back with renewed confidence and the next season , he and Harewood became a strikeforce to behold.

I agree. He needs regular football. He's obviously talented - why let him waste it by sitting on a bench?

I think to see him on the bench indicates he is slowly coming back into the matchday squad.

He is another player who can play upto his potential any day of the week. Also other teams scouts won't have seen him play that much.

Even if you believe he lacks the talent, this is a short-sighted view. Having been sat in the stands for half the season his value will be at a low-point. Loaning him out for the rest of the year to score some goals (which he will do, because he does have talent) will at worst increase his value for the summer, and probably give him the chance to prove he should be playing for us.

He was only on the bench tonight because Blackstock, Earnshaw and McKenna were left out of the side.

He won't be on the bench on Saturday.

I think a loan move would be excellent for him - he needs to be playing football and scoring goals again. It is a win-win for us as he will either come back full of confidence or move on for a fee.

However, I don't think Billy will let him move on loan unless we bring someones else in, he has always stressed the need to have 6 strikers so I don't see that changing any time soon.

Its a shame if he does leave...i still think he's a far better option than mcgoldrick.would love to see him get a few games up front with blackstock...

If he goes out on loan I hope it's to a Championship side.

He needs to play against bettrer defences than League one where Grant Holt looks like a worldbeater.

Hmm, this could also work in our favour of course as long we prevent him from playing against us.

he should go on loan to a champ team in the bottom half that way he can score goals for them and help us out by taking points from the clubs near us simples
