Depends how much of Bales wages Spurs want covering. Can Ashley justify adding to a wage bill which is in desperate need of being reduced? Especially if it's for a player who is wanted, not needed.

I think Ashley is deciding to stay and gamble on Newcastle getting promotion this year.They are after Sol Campbell and his wages won't be cheap so they must be a bit left in the toon coffers.Johnny Bravo said:

Sol Campbell is dependent on Taylor going though isn't it? I imagine his wages will be less than Taylors especially as it's the best club he could probably get in at now, there will be a big net gain on the fee they get for Taylor and the nothing they pay for Campbell signing on fee aside. They don't really have any back up defenders if they lose Taylor either so signing a new centre half is a must and even though his wages will be high they won't have to say a fee such as if they'd gone for a Mills.
