The fact that pretty much anyone can beat anyone in this league, added to the 'fight for your lives' mentality means that there will always be some unexpected results.

We've just beaten two teams who will be challenging to play in the Premiership in a few weeks time.

Plymouth have just beaten a side almost guaranteed to be in the Premiership next season.

Southampton are completely resurgent, and we're only a few wins off being in 'chasing pack' for the playoffs.

Releagtion is any three from about 12 teams.

Only Charlton seem to be left behind now.

Jesus, last day of season is crazy.

Derby v Watford
Forest v Soton
Charlton v Norwich
Plymouth v Barnsley
So 8 of the bottom teams play each other

and
reading v Birmingham looks likely this game will decide who goes up and who in the playoffs.

I have just done the predictor and have tried to be as even handed as possible, not too many wild predictions and played it safe

I have us just scraping into the play-offs, and then winning them with derby derby and derby going down

Southampton's game in hand is against Watford, so definitely points to be dropped there. Hopefully a draw and two points lost by each.

Its a bit worrying that, Crystal Palace, Derby, Watford and Barsnley all have 2 games in hand, Soton have 1.

But Derby have Brizzle, Barnsley and Southampton both play Birmingham.

Apart from Southampton I cannot really see many of them winning them at the moment!!

I do know derby have Cardiff as one but they are not overly relevant now.

2 points above us and beginning to falter?

Derby are right back into the relegation mix with us.

They need to take 6 points from their games in hand or they'll be in trouble again.

A game in hand is worth two in the bush.

Anybody know when these games are due to be played? I'm guessing mid-week, but dates?

Someone posted this on another forum:

Record since 1 Jan 2009.

Forest P10 W5 D1 L4 F13 A13 Pts 16 GD 0
Watford P8 W4 D0 L4 F10 A11 Pts 12 GD -1
Saints P9 W3 D2 L4 F10 A15 Pts 11 GD -5
Argyle P10 W2 D3 L5 F7 A16 Pts 9 GD -9
Charlton P9 W2 D2 L5 F8 A13 Pts 8 GD -5
Blackpoo P10 W2 D1 L6 F8 A16 Pts 8 GD -8
Norwich P10 W1 D4 L5 F13 A14 Pts 7 GD -1
Barnsley P8 W2 D1 L5 F5 A13 Pts 7 GD -8

On that basis our record under WMD stands up well; horrible dip in the middle, though loss at home to local rivals made it feel worse than it was. But so far this year we've taken twice as many points as over half of our rivals.

The other thing that stands out, though, is the number of 6-pointers still to come, which could make it extremely hard to predict what's going to happen, because they make the gearing so high.

Argyle have 3 of their remaining 10 games against relegation rivals (Norwich, Blackpool, Barnsley)
Charlton - 4 of 11 (Norwich, Soton, Blackpool, Watford)
Forest - 4 of 10 (Watford, Barnsley, Blackpool, Soton)
Norwich - 4 of 10 (Blackpool, Argyle, Watford, Charlton)
Soton - 5 of 11 (Blackpool, Watford, Charlton, Palace, Forest)
Watford - 5 of 12 (Forest, Charlton, Soton, Barnsley, Norwich)
Barnsley - 5 of 12 (Blackpool, Palace, Forest, Watford, Argyle)
Blackpool - 6 of 10 (Norwich, Barnsley, Soton, Argyle, Charlton & Forest).

6-pointers can cut both ways, of course; lose a couple and you can find your rivals pulling away fast. They also mean that the "points to escape" level probably won't be that high this season; because we'll be carving one another up, the chances are that most clubs won't get loads and loads of points (unless we all keep beating the top sides, which seems unlikely).

Still all to play for.

I agree, I can see Blackpool slipping further and further. They're playing Norwich on saturday so if (and it may be a big if!) we win and those two draw we could be sitting quite pretty. :)

I think Charlton are the only team we can almost certainly condemn to relegation now.

Anyone in the bottom 7 or 8 could go still.

Personally, I think it'll be Charlton, Blackpool and Southampton.

I actually think we'll relegate Saints on the last day.

Barring Charlton you can't write anyone off.

2 weeks ago Southampton were in shocking form and looked doomed, they put a few results together (and play very well) and they're looking up.

Last week it was Plymouth, hadn't won in ages, in free-fall, etc. Then they go and win 2 games back to back.

Now it's Blackpool.

I think the post I copied on the last page shows how hard it is to predict. With that many 6 pointers in such a short period of time it really is any two from 9.
