Well chaps,

I've got to say that I don't think you've got too much to worry about so long as you don't completely throw the rest of the season. I'm afraid we've run out of steam. Clearly, I still want three points off you at Oakwell, but aside from that, no hard feelings.

I'll come back now and again to see how you're doing and get your perspective on things - but not to take the piss. We're all in this together.

Do you think you'll stay up?

Hello mate,

Welcome!

Right now? We seem to be in self-destruct mode - but we have enough 'on paper' fixtures we should be able to gather the points we need to secure our Championship status.

The only problem is we've struggled with fixtures we should win 'on paper'!

I think it will go down to the end of the season.

We are a funny old team, we can beat all the good teams (except Burnley) and lose against the crap teams. I think we will stay up just about. I think Charlton,Blackpool, Southampton will go down.

Hi mate and thanks

Serious squeaky bum time ... and the team's so inconsistant that it's hard to call it one way or another.

Saying that I am an optimist and reckon that some how we'll be in the Championship next season. Trying to work out who'll go down beyond Charlton is a mindmelter though.

Good luck and hopefully we'll be both be happy come May 3rd

Cheers fellas.

I think it will go to the wire, but take it from me, we are more than capable of pissing our games in hand right up the wall and relegating ourselves before then. We're dreadful in six pointers too.

I know there has hardly been a rapport between the Forest fans and the Barnsley fans (for obvious reasons) but I hope we both make it. If nothing else, Cloughie was a god amongst men.

Let's face it, none of us are in this shit state because we've been good this year. I was at the game at your place, and I thought both sides were dreadful.

Welcome mate, it appears we have a (rare) but nice chap of another club here. Stick around and all the best to yourselves too. It may come down to the wire but I genuinely wish Barnsley weren't a club we were fighting with !

One of the few genuine clubs in the CCC these days, I really do hope you chaps survive and we have the pleisure of visiting Oakwell next season ! Great bunch of fans and fully deserve to be at the top !

Best wishes and see you in the European Cup !

When I was a kid growing up Liverpool were the dominant side in English football, but Forest were consistently the second best side in the land, and in other decades would have been the outright best. What the chuff are you lot doing in a dirty relegation scrap at the foot of the second division?

I know why barnsley are in it - but Nottingham Forest? ???

You're having a laugh talking about us in the European Cup, but you've got the silverware.

All I want is survival and a mid-table season.

Alright BRF.

You boys weren't doing too badly in the middle of the season -- what's gone wrong? You've slipped right down and now have a fight on your hands like us.

I feel a relegation hug coming along lol !

Anyway's, best of wishes to your boys and I feel that there are still a few surprises to come this season ! One being a previous unamed club being drawn into the mire !

Hello and welcome mate.

I really hope we both don't go down, have a bit of the family who used to live in Barnsley (they've gone to Australia now, idiots, I know!), so have a bit of a soft spot for you.

Really hope were both championship teams next season.

(for Billy Hunt btw)

Same story as last season really - not bad at the half way point, looking like we'd stay out of the scrap, then sat back and lost a number of games on the bounce. We have a manager who is lucky more than sensible. He got away with it last year because of the F.A. Cup semi-final (god only knows how we got past Liverpool and Chelsea lol) - this year he has no excuses. He plays some good players well out of position (infamously playing Campbell-Rice as a sweeper), he likes to chop and change between daft formations, and with a squad that has four championship quality wingers, he likes to play 4-3-3 and stick strikers out wide.

Davey also has a reputation for falling out with individuals in the dressing room - unfortunately the most recent casualty was Brian Howard, who is now sat on the bench at our local rivals, and was good for fifteen goals a season plus assists, and was a decent dead-ball man.

General consensus is that our squad is decent, but our manager has lost the plot.

What happened to your lot?

We didn't bother buying a defence, and have been admittedly hard hit by injuries.

Or, perhaps more harsh, we didn't build a squad with enough cover for injuries.

Apparently he has coaching badges, so that's ok.

You have to laugh or else you'd cry.

As someone has already said about your lads - we've had a share of injuries (paying a million plus for Hume, and then for him to get nearly killed by a former Barnsley captain and local lad was particularly sour) but we just don't play to our strengths, and to be fair (Hume aside), we started the season on a wing and a prayer as far as strikers are concerned.

Cheers mate.

What happened to our lot? Potentially opening a can of worms with that line of questioning, but here's my take on it:

1, Unsatisfactory defence; probably most unlikely (if you'd have asked us lot at the start of season) of our defenders to succeed and do really well at this level has been big Wes Morgan. Been the bright spark in - at times - a floundering, calamitous defence. Oddly we've looked fairly cohesive at the back though (E.g. Plymouth, Sheff Wed at home) , so I guess it's not as simply as that. Set peices and crosses have really hurt us this season. Top and bottom of it for me is that it's a league one defence.

2, Been unlucky with injuries: Earnshaw, at 2.5 million, was meant to grab us 20 goals/season. Hasn't had a significant run of games before his next hamstring probalem all season. Tyson I thought would do really well at this level, but hasn't really done it consistently (some would argue not at all), but has tried his heart out.

3, Calderwood. Not a bad bloke, signed some good players, but tactically very naive. Since Billy came in we've definitely looked better - games like Sheff Wed and Preston (won both 2-1) would have been thrown away under CC, so tactically I feel we've grown and been enhanced by Davies.

4, Incosistency - to put it bluntly, drawing (and should have beat them) with Birmingham 1-1, beating Reading away, Preston etc, but losing to Burnley 5-0 and losing to Doncaster 4-2 at home is baffling.

5, Inexperience has cost us IMO too, good raw young players McGugan, Cohen, Anderson but they go AWOL at times and are green behind the ears to say the least. No leadership on the pitch too.

There you go that 's my take on it for all it matters.

Hello BRF,
It's nice to have someone friendly from another club talking on here :)

I do think we'll stay up, It might go to the last game of the season vs Southampton maybe, but I'm hoping it will all be done by then. As we're not the best under pressure!

Welcome BRF,

Nice to have amicable fans of other clubs on the forum, rather than those who just come on here to goad us.

I didn't realise that Barnsley were so far in the shit until a couple of weeks ago, but I think you'll be ok.

That said, if it was us or you, then I think you know where my priorities lie!

Personally, I don't think Blackpool will have enough, and it'll be them, Saints and Charlton to go.

It's still so tight, and one bad result for any team within five places of relegation could f*** them over big time.

I think we'll just about manage it, but as others have said, it could well go to the final day.

Final table?
